When did they start sealing the fronts and knurling the ends? I have one from around 1989 and the top tube open on both ends, and smooth all over.

Mine is open at both ends too... smooth, no knurling. Been on an '88 FA Limo since new...

Rick, haven't you had that post for a loooong time? No doubt that it's a real Elf...

yeah the one on my mcs is the deal..... but it looks different than his one,... thats why i asked..

i have a smooth and open on both ends post also. i think i got it in 90
