Full Version: Does Anyone Remember A Girl That Raced For Dg Around 1980?

I am trying to remember her name. Several years back there was an Ebay seller. I can't remember the user ID. The seller was her dad and I purchased a whole bunch of DG stuff including her helmet. I believe they were out of Florida. Just trying to put a name to the stuff I have. I know at the time he was selling off all of the stuff. I got some NOS Green Duck Cruiser decals from him and they are the only ones I have seen.

I believe the last name was Green... the DG racer had blonde hair, blue eyes, extremely cute, if memory serves. A couple issues of Total BMX (or a call to Bob Tedesco) would straighten it out.

Oh! Missy Fred also rode for DG, similar characteristics, though much younger than the above. But she was from Boubonnais, IL not Florida, unless they moved.

Kevin Harlow is on this site. He would most certainly know the answer.

Hope this helps!

Bill Green might be the dad and I think jenny green was his kid. He was one of the 1st older cruiser national champ in the nbl. I think he broke his collarbone at the 81or82 grands .

I do know that she was in a couple of bmx magazines back in the day. At the time the dad emailed me the article from the magazine. It was just too long ago from me to remember the names. I may see if I have the old emails(I doubt it though!)

its either Jenni Green or Paula Drappo, she also lived in FLA and rode for DG at this time, prior to movin to Cali.
mrraceinc
How old would she have been?
MikeCarruth
Ding, ding, ding, ding! That was it...Jenny Green. Well, at least the name I was searching for. Can't speak for mrraceinc.

Good memory, Gary!

Jenni would of been 13, Paula around 11.
MikeCarruth
Probably 15 or 16 in the mid 80s would be my guess.

Bill Green had 3 kids that raced, son Billy and duaghters Jenny and I think Julie? The Boystown track was in Kendall, FL. Bill was really the pioneer of much of BMX in FL, including making the NBL "the" Florida sanction over NPSA. He was the state association president before Alice Bixler. He later started his own company, BG racing, which made "The Studd" sprocket as well as several other products. That's Jenny in The Studd add with Timmy Judge and his girlfriend at the time.

Mike, Missy Fred raced for Hutch, I'm not sure about DG. Her brother and I were best friends back in the day. At the time I never realized how good Missy was. She was the annoying little sister who was always around... (she'd probably kick my [please review the site FAQs] today if she heard me say that!) I'm not sure what she's up to these days but I know she still lives in the Bourbonnais area.

I found this picture of Missy on the Internet. She is the blond in the front left...

P.S. Mike - I'm still waiting for you to post a new CoP event... :-)

Stephani DeFeo also was a DG rider in the early 80's

Stephanie was a real good rider. Winning the boys national number one at the NBL Grands in Louisville. She also won her class main of course. Back then it was weird that she could race the girls and the boys and it not be an open class.

Stephanie was riding for JMC at the time. If she ever rode for DG it was before my time.

I dont think Stephanie ever rode for DG. Johnny I think, confused her with the other Jersey standout Jenny Zeuner. Jen rode for DG as did her brother Sal. The only other Factory girl in those days from the Garden State was Kathy Schachel for Shimano.
