So the NFL HoF talk recently got me thinking and I am sure this has been brought up before but, say the site were to dedicate a section to honor those nominated and then voted on by the members here. I was thinking that there could be a time period open for nominations, then the top 10 get put into a voting poll and the top 3 make it into the VBMX HoF. This could be done each year about the same time. Riders only? Bikes? Companies? I was just thinking riders but I could see other categories being included too.
So the thread would be opened for a period of time each year, say one week for nominations.
After one week the thread is locked and the top 10 nominations get put in to a voting poll.
Top 3 get inducted into the HoF.
What do you all think?

http://www.ababmx.com/index.php?page=halloffameThere is already a hall of fame. Seeing the site owner works for the ABA I don't see Vintage doing their own hall of fame. Besides I think you would see the same guys inducted in it that have already been inducted in the hall of fame over on the ABA side.
I'm guessing you didn't know this hall of fame exhisted? The public can vote on the list of nominees prior to the ABA grands in November. Those that are inducted have a banquet held in their honor over the thanksgiving weekend.

I didn't know that one was out there. Thanks..... I put this topic in the cafe because I was thinking it would not be just for BMX racer types, but for racers, freestylers (flatland), street riders, ramp riders....the whole group of BMX "riders".
I also think that the people here on the site that are regulars would like to have some say in who is in the sites HoF....
Thats why I asked the question is all.......

Once a year there are links to the hall of fame and everyone can vote on who gets inducted. It is an open playing field with everyone being able to vote including members of this site.

Each year, the AMERICAN BICYCLE ASSOCIATION inducts two legendary BMX racers from the past, along with one influential Industry person in to the Official BMX Hall of Fame.
That's pretty clearly a racer only thing there so there'd need to be an everything else Hall of Fame to really complete a comprehensive BMX hall of fame.

Agreed, Maurice!
Who knows, perhaps bmxhalloffame.org will be a reality some day (categories for Racing, Freestyle, Industry, Press, Bike, Component)
Cheers!

Man there are so many top nominees on the list already, adding more just make it tougher. Although every year a few new names apear. There are about 10 people already nominated that have not gone in yet that I feel belong there.
