Full Version: Paint Restoration And Sticker Salvage

I have searched the forums and have seen many "how do I strip paint/PC" and "how do I prep for paint/PC" threads.

I have a bike I want to leave original. I want to leave it like it was raced. I have a 26" Prodyne that has a pretty good finish for being almost 30yrs old and raced to national number 4... and I want to shine it up. Any advice on product or methods would be appreciated.

Also any idea on how to protect and clean up the sticker... they have road rash on them... I am thinking on getting a new exacto and shaving the little "flags" off then cleaning up the old dirty adhesive in the voids... Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

I wish that there was a way that I knew of, but I think that the overall result of any type of restoration would tend to let the "loved" appearance be lost.

Personally, I think it's great the way it is.

I use easy-off to get hard grime off frame and stickers, other than that not much looks like its needed. A little oxalic acid dip for the cranks maybe? No need to shave the decals though IMHO
