I finaly did a candy job on a bike. I`ll probably will not offer this service because the candy is expensive. Check it out though, the finish is so unreal............

Um, Lou, if it looks good, why not offer it? Just let the buyer know he's gotta pay up.

turn the dial on the camera to the little flower symbol and "NOT" the mountains symbol
works wonders. Most of your bike pics will be awesome on macro! .....

I`ll get some pics in the daylight. The color on this is unreal. I`m going to do my Billy Griggs CW in this color.

Yeah, flake 'em both.. Chrome is nice, but good color speaks!
Love to see some more pics.. Thing about kandy is that it's drippy in person. Cameras hardly do justice to the results.

One more quik ?
What was the base? Chrome?
I had a powder coater do a candy job on a bike I built a friend and he powdered over the chrome with "near chrome" powder first, then the candy. He said that Chrome does not hold candy so well but the near chrome powder does..
Okay cool.. what did you do?

The base is a coarse metallic also know as silver. I did a few different silver shades but the coarse looks the best. It`s NOT as sparkley as you think, don`t think it`s a bass boat flake or any other flake. It`s NOT flake, it`s metallic. Metallic is what you see on your everyday car on the road. Kandy is a transparent pigment so the more coats on the darker it gets. You`re looking at 3 coats but I didn`t do the recomended mix. It says 8 to 1 and I did 2 to 1. If I would have did the correct mixture it would have been lighter shade. This color is like what you`ll see on a show car. BMX75 was over here earilier and he was speechless when he seen it.
I`m going to see how much kandy/material was used then I`ll check out the numbers. If I do offer it I`m thinking $200 for a f/f.
I`m sending it back to Jim tomorrow so I`ll try my hardest to get daylight pics before it leaves.
I know I need to learn to shoot pics better. lol.

Well Lou, even at 2 bills.. results like that compared to powder are sure to be on the "tough choice" list when finishing a nice build.

Now post a nice "clear" pic of the whole thing ...
It`s too late, it`s gone. Jim should see it next week and I`m sure he`ll shoot some pics and way better than mine too.

Lou great job on the frame. the new owner has got to be like a kid on Christmas Eve!! ( or like on the day before the day of whatever one may celebrate, not to leave anyone out!) what kolor was it? I love seeing non-"factory" kolors , not the red or white or blue or black all the time.

Lou, sweet job. btw, is that a JMC or is it a Hutch? just taking a shoot at the little picture.
It`s kandy red over silver base. It`s a chromoly Race INC. I want to do kandy over raw aluminum next.

$200 seems like a steal for base coat, candy, and clear. Materials alone will kill you. My chevy Impala is orange candy over a gold metallic base. The gold really pops through when the sun hits. Keep up the good work!
Todd is right about the costs of material but I have a very low overhead, thats why my prices are low. I`m not out there to make a killing off the pricing, I`m just doing so I have something to do. lol.

Okay Todd, you piqued my interest.. I know this is Lou's thread, but would you share a nice gleamy pic of the orange on the gold.. that sounds soooo sweet!
Or at least pm it to me?
