I had an Outland VPP.
That bike was awesome... uphill and downhill.
The front triangle was a bit flimsy due to the ultra thin Easton tube set, and the rear cnc'd seatstays flexed quite a bit from the powerful v-brakes, but other than that the bike rode great and the suspension was the best to that date.
One of my buddies had one too. The small diameter pivots blew up on him at least once or twice.
Mine were fine.

Now, I've got one of the Intense 5.5 VPP bikes... still a very nice design all these years later!

Did somebody say Grant's Ranch? I raced the Sizzler back in the late 80's and did quite a few of them back in the day on my Schwinn KOM...what a great race. Still have the shirt too:) Should take some pics and post them.

My KOM was really my first custom build MTB race bike. The first was Yellow only available as a frame and fork and then all the rest were red white and blue. Prestige ...steel baby!

I was running IRD U-brakes...any one remember them? I'd love to have my old set back. Funny, I went through 11 KOM frames before moving to a custom Waterford Paramount frame. Bent up a couple of those as well. KOM notorious for cracked welds around the chain stays. They looked good though!

I also had an Outland back in the day. Bushings for sure were and issue. I took mine on Porcupine Rim in Moab, what a great bike. I was fortunate to have been part of a company that sponsored Outland's race team back in the day. Lynn...a hot little south african road for them back in the day...she was as fast as she was sweet.....Ahhh what great memories!
