I am putting together an early looptail PK and am having a hard time making a decision to pull these cranks out of their shrink wrapped package and use them. They are awesome cranks but I just don't know if I have the heart to use them. I know I haven't seen many on builds so I am trying to get an idea of the rarity. An item just isn't ever NOS again once it is out of its package. I bought these from Shannon Gillette(Thumperpilot) several years back and he had the same issue with using them on a build.

I think that is the only set known of NOS ones, other than another set of red ones I saw on eBay a few years ago, but think those went overseas. I think the ones you have are red (think) but I have a very nice set of blue ones, not NOS though. They are pretty rare cranks no matter what, but you are right, used and NOS in the package is waht makes them a col piece. Just by a very nice set that is already out of the package! That seems to be the catch with BMX and finances - yopu have to buy more than one of every item - one to use and one for display.

I sold off my NOS Blue ones about 3-4 years back. I have no idea who bought them (though I do keep stellar eBay records so I could locate them if need be). Mine were Blue and not in the shrinkwrap.
