Ok...so I took a closer look at the Mongoose I found. Looks like a mix and match setup. I know it has a mongoose frame, Dia Compe MX brakes, Araya rims with ACS hubs and a Sugino 2-piece crank. That I know. AFter that, it gets dodgy. I have no idea what forks are on it. I think that it has (mongoose's gold neck) stem..but not positive. No clue what the handlebars are. I'm attaching some pics this time to see if anyone has any ideas. Also...I looked through the 79 Catalog and noticed that none of the mongoose bikes had decals on the lower bar (aside from motomag). Mine says Team Mongoose...but now I'm not so certain.

Not sure on the forks, but that isn't a Mongoose stem. Bars look like Schwinn, maybe? If the serial number in the title is complete, it's not a Team Mongoose, Teams had a "T" stamp under the serial number.

I think I can also see a coaster brake tab on the left side, which the Teams did not have. Forks look Akisu-ish, and stem is generic LBS. Bars look familiar, but I can't place them. They are not Mongoose.

Actually, the very early Teams had the coaster tab. I sold one recently. It was a 77, stamped with the "T", with coaster tab and no flat spot for chain clearance. Got pics of it somewhere around here.....

True Wagonguy, but it didn't happen by `79.

Correct. I think those late 77's were the only ones. By early 78 they were full chromo and lost the brake tab.

fork looks like a cheap Wald relacement fork...which, ironically, needs replacement itself
