"Then came 1989, Frankford BMX was having a blowout sale on leftover 88 Haro Masters. I really wanted to get one. It mostly had to do with seeing the Team Haro show in my town in the summer of 88. I just sorta switched teams from that day."
That's scary when I can actually remember this sale!

Holy moses...!!
AMAZING bike.
The GT is just incredible.
I had one of those frames BITD...probably my fave bike of all the bikes I had over the years.
Excellent job.
How sweet it is to be reunited with YOUR bike...not just another Performer from somewhere else...that is the best part of the story. If I could only find mine...geez...

The seat is a survivor that I picked up on the Museum. Soft scrubbed it and steel wooled the rails.
Thanks for all the kind words guys. It really is a great feeling to have my original bike back and finally restored. I actually talk to it sometimes about all the good times we had together BITD

Crazy, I know.

Very cool story, you are lucky to have that. I would give a left nut for my old bike back.

Great job on the GT. With the attention to detail you have, I cannot wait to see the Haro completed.
Keep us posted.

@ bmxism & RL-20II Guy--Here is an ad from a Freestylin' issue I have dated April 89. Sweet.

Thanks for posting that ad. Looking at some of those prices is just so depressing. I miss the days of having to put my mom on the phone to approve my order.

What a fantanstic post! What a fantastic bike! Love blue Performers as a friend had a blue 1990 performer back in the day and mine was magenta. Still waiting on the photoshoot!

Nice post and story of your GT project... I mostly don't have the patience for Project bikes and just buy complete good condition bikes off ebay. But sometimes I get ebay rip offs like when I bought my Street Beat the rear Skyway Mag was shot so I bought a Skyway axle rebuild kit to fix it -- seller ripped me off on this.
