I just bought a pair of Landing gear lites from the 80's and there is a Redline stamped on the steer tube. Is this correct or did I pay way to much for a pair of Redline forks?

Post a picture.

Landing Gear lites look like this:

i dunno. do they look like landing gears (balogna-cut on the ends, SE-style dropouts)?

it's possible that that the same company made both redline and SE import forks at one time, so if they look like SE landing gear that could explain the stamp.

got any pics?

They look like Landing gears & have the hole on the inside bottom. You might be able to make out the stamp on the steer tube.

Willinois, Hauler or Bronco??

Those lites are definately SE. You are saying that a visible Redline stamp is on them???? That's a new one for sure.

I was told that in either 89 or 90 Redline was having a tuff time. So SE stepped in and bought some material from them. They Bought these steer tubes that were already stamped. Needless to say, I just them them back to the person I bought them from since the steer tube was cut to short.

that wouldn't make a lot sense because the stamped redline stuff (and all frames/forks early '80 onward) was manufactued overseas. SE would have had to get the tubing shipped over from taiwan. it's more likely that the SE fork was built over there by the same company who built RL stuff, at some point.

Who did you just return them to and how much too short was it?

Some guy on Ebay, the steer tube was about 3/8" to short.
