Hey Guys,
I run the Factory Skatepark in Atlanta and am holding our annual "Winter Splinter" BMX comp on March 1st. Being a 31 year old rider who got into BMX by watching "RAD" in the theaters, I'd like to include an Old School BMX showcase this year. The idea is to have a display area where guys can show off their vintage stuff. No money, awards, or fame await you but hopefully a bunch of guys like us can all meet and have a good time, and the crowd will dig it too. Last year I had a "Masters" class of over-30 riders and we all rode 80's flatland to the RAD soundtrack. It was a blast and a crowd favorite. I want to have a similar thing this year, but make it even better and include a true vintage show as well. Entry fee will be $25 to ride in the event and/or participate in the showcase (one fee gets you as many events as you want). Spectators pay 5 bucks. Anyone interested?
My website is www.factory-skate.com.
Hope to hear from you guys!

Noel, I'll be at the NBL national in Morristown, TN on March 1st. Otherwise, I would be there for sure. Thanks for putting this out there!

Noel...
I will be there for sure! Will check out your site... I'll be coming down from Marietta. Would like to learn more about this event... might be able to help out in promoting. Can bring 2 or 3 bikes, might get a few friends to join as well. What is the best way to get in contact with you?

Noel, I live in Spartanburg, SC and I recently posted a question asking if anyone was in SC. One person responded. I may try to attend the event with my old Silver Streak. I'll check out the website. Thanks, James.

Great, James. Hope to see you down here. Some of the local old guys are coming with their 80's bikes, too. This should be fun.

Am I reading this wrong? $25.00 to DISPLAY a bike in "The Showcase?" That's a first for me.

You read it right - remember that the showcase is one part of a big contest, so I'm charging an entry fee to generate money for the pro park and vert purses. The showcase, while being for fun, is also an informal contest in itself: the best old school bike, as voted on by the Masters Class (over 30) competitors, will win it's owner a certificate for 50 wings at the Hooters up the street.
