This bike was a tribute build to a neighbour that I used to race with. I bought my original Quicksilver from him and fell in love with this Proline when he finished it. I didnt have any pics to go from, just what I held in my memory. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago of a heart attack aged 37, his name was Gary Turner.

#1 Alan McCorkle's aluminum Hutch - Cleaner than clean, rare bike with a history. This one is a no-brainer.

http://oldschoolbmx.com/community/index.ph...wtopic=27004411

#2 sdillman17's 1981 GT Pro - Outstanding build on an outstanding bike.

http://oldschoolbmx.com/community/index.ph...wtopic=27004811

The attention to detail on both of these bikes are second to none.
Thumperpilot
That Hutch mini is pretty sweet. Rocket Rich still has his actual ride too! He's showed it to me. It needs a little TLC but it's all there!

As you can see Alan's is very close to Rocket's ride, but the Rocket's has more BLING on it. He ran his brake lever on the right side too. LOL!!!!

KUWAHARE E.T. 1982

Its been 25 years since E.T. was released on the cinema and for me its one of the best films of all time. Its was probs the first time i saw a BMX and everyone who went to see it always mentioned that it had BMX's in it. When i got back into BMX about 3 years ago it was defo one of the bikes i wanted to get as its always the one i remember from back in the day.

The bike has taken me about 11 months to build and i just need a frame pad to totally compleate it. So if anyone can help me out then just pm me, thanks dudes

Worked from the pic below

Started life like this

Finnished off like this all to photo spec with NOS parts. Went for elan lightning bolt seat though as this is the one he has on the bike in the film and i like it more than the plain black one smile.gif

Hope you like, thanks smile.gif

1985 Raleigh Team Aero Pro Andy Ruffell Replica

Always been a massive fan of Andy Ruffell since i was about 8 years old and was gutted when he left Mongoose to go to Raleigh. Would not believe he had changed teams till my m8 showed me the front of the 1985 Raleigh Broucher. I took the broucher home with me and used to look through it for hours wanting to have a bike just like Ruffs. So 20 years on the dream has finally been realised and ive made the bike up as close to the broucher photo spec as i could find. Hope you dudes like, cheers

After speaking to Craig Schofield (another Raleigh Team rider in 85) at the burner bash 2007 he told me that the Raleigh rider's bikes ran with GT Pro bars, ESP Stem and different chainwheel which i have now bought and fitted to the bike. Have also got a new Raleigh sticker on the number plate, one that is not see through. Its is now as close as possible to Andys Raleigh 85 broucher bike as i can possibly get. Thanks dudes hope you like

For those of you in the USA who don't know who Andy Ruffell is he was one of the top riders in the uk and one of the uk's biggest names in bmx. The equivelent to Eric Rupe in the USA who also rode for Mongoose at the same time as Andy did in the uk. Its was a massive shock in the uk when Andy Ruffell left the Mongoose team and signed up for Team Raleigh in 1985. Hope you like and thanks for looking smile.gif

Frame was originally issued blue, acquired with very little finish remaining, refinished in 2005. Saddle was restored by myself, cranks and seat clamp were used, everything else was nos. This project was a 5 year ordeal to recreated the John George bike in the 1978 Mongoose ad's. An obsession to find the properly dated Shimano goods began after I had the brakes and cranks, those were easy to replace with 78's but the hubs took 2 years of net searching with one coming from Japan and one from Texas.

I had the previlege of bringng the bike back to life recently

The Pit Hack
Most of the people on this site have seen it before, so I'll try to describe it briefly with little known facts this time. The whole bike is era correct except the wheels and sections of the side hack. The hack actually has fender braces and a few other small sections used from spare Motomag frames leftover from the pit conversion. We decided a genuine LittleJohn would be too sought after to cut up. The wheels are the most controversial part of the bike as far as being “Vintage”, but the cool thing here was that they were acquired and created from members on this site with little cash actually being exchanged for them. Too many people were involved in making the parts trade possible to get them done, but the key people were IronHide (for designing the program), John DeBruin (actual CNC work), and Keep_It_Warm (Tom) for locating trade parts. Quite a few paint jobs were done for them also. The center hub flanges and all hardware are from actual Motomag II’s. The rest of the project took every bit of a year from the time Pep decided at Rockford ’06 that we had to build one. I was still hunting down parts the day of the show at Rockford ’07. Rod Miles came through with the pedals I needed that day, but I never did find an NOS quilted Messinger for it. Everything else was found with wanted ads here or Ebay throughout the year. The amount of fabrication work was overwhelming at times (mostly with the cranks), but it really brought me closer with my father and son who were there to help throughout the whole thing. My father and I spent many late nights working on it right up to the last week before the show, and at times I didn't think the hack would be done in time. Rockford was the first time the bike was fully put together with paint and decals. My 4 year old daughter say’s it rides as good as it looks, and I've actually rode it a few times myself.

Modifications:

Kool-Stop finned brake pad spacer mounted to the brake pivot bolt; plated pedal cages; wheels are “race laced” (four-cross, spoke heads inward); road bar ribbon plugs in bar ends and under fork; Buttonhead stainless hub bolts purchased from Trick Titanium in the mid-eighties; Flex fighter was made by a friend in a vocational class when I was in high school; seat guts mounted above seat rails to conceal them better.

Notes:

I am the original owner. My bike is spec’d about 95% original. Most of the components are original finish, except the headset lock, hubs, Whale Tail, and pedal cages. I polished the hubs and headlock in the mid-eighties, and my dad had the pedal cages plated in the mid-eighties as well. I dyed the seat black (it is original too).

Mine is not really a restoration or a recreation, but more of a preservation. This Bike has been in my possession and stored inside my house since the last day I raced it in 1991 at the NBL Christmas Classic. All of the parts are the exact same that I raced that day, 16 years ago. After that I retired from racing (the first time).

1990 Elf Pro XL 20”, Serial # 390133. The bike is basically all black except the stem, hubs, and pedals. The cranks, chainwheel, and handle bars were painted black back in the late 80’s. Here is a list of everything on the bike.

Frame- Elf Pro XL (Double Thick Rear Dropouts),
Forks- Elf Pro (unique Offset design, this is the first year Elf made forks like this),
Bars- Boss Pro 8” rise (painted Black still chrome underneath),
Grips- A’me rounds,
Stem- DK Pro XL,
Headset- Tioga (black),
Brake Lever- Dia Compe (one stage earlier than Tech 77 Left hand turned upside down),
Brakes- Dia Compe MX-1000,

Seat Clamp- Hutch Round (not the cheap ones that narrowed at the front),
Cranks- 1986 Redline Flight Cranks (painted black, these were made before you could get painted Flights I think),
Bottom Bracket- Redline regular unsealed, packed with Phil Wood Grease,
Pedals- SR beartraps with Urchin pedal cages,
Chainring- Redline Flight 45T (painted black),
Chain- Sedis Sport 3/32,
Freewheel-Suntour 16T chrome,
Rims- Araya 7X black 20x1.50,
Hubs- Sunshine Sealed,
Spokes-Black 14G,
Tires-Tioga Comp III’s (sidewalls colored in with a permanent marker, they did not make black walls back then).
Pads- Solid Black Flite Pads
Plate- Zeronine Moto Control

I got this F/F a few years ago from Ray Beard (Thanks Ray!) who was selling it for a guy named Rocky Rice who I used to race BITD. I finished it up last spring and ride it almost every day. I never owned a JMC 24" back then but always admired them. I built this one as I would have set it up to race in '84.

This is an exact replica of my 1980 race bike with the exception that I never had a Regina Titanio chain back then although I did want one in the worst way. I've been searching for parts for this build for 4 years and managed to find the final piece to the puzzle last spring; The early "Anaheim" GT Pro bars.

I was sure I got my first set of GT bars in mid to late 1980 but had never heard of them that early from other collectors so I thought I must have mis-remembered. Darren Chan had this set and I jumped on them to say the least! Also thanks to Randy C for the NOS Anaheim GT coin decal on the bars.

I hope you like it, it sure was alot of work and more fun tracking down all the strange parts I used back then.
