Since I have a lot of free time on my hands, I have jumped back into the vintage stuff hard. Here are two bikes I threw together- a Rebel 24 and a BXC 24. I really like them both- the BXC is waiting on a nice gold MX Caliper, and I just have to put a chain on the Rebel and clean it up, but both were just fun to put together. Enjoy.

The Tahoe has John Sandberg's new rider (after he gets out his checkbook) written all over it.
Fixed that for you.
I like 'em all!
I like the fact that all 3 are "local" company bikes, that belong to different parts of the country so to speak. None of them made widespread distribution, but were heavy with the locals respectively. The Tahoe still looks like it has Minnesota snow all over it....

Awesome!
Never heard of BXC. Got any background on it for us?
on a side note: What gears and fork length do you have on those? Are they riders or just for show?
Edit: got this from BMX musuem..
Recent email with BXC info:
BXC Racing frames were custom made for a local bike shop on old University Avenue in Madison, Wisconsin, USA. I do not remember what manufacturer they were sourced from, but there were frames, forks, and bars made in regular BMX sizes as well as a cruiser type build; chrome was the only finish choice, as I recall. The frames were made in the very early eighties, but for how long I do not know. The owners of the store sponsored a semi-successful BMX team for a while, hence the interest in a proprietary frame for the team, and later for general sale.
Both myself, and a good friend built-up BXC framed bikes. He still has mine hanging in his garage in Lodi, WI. He probably won't part with it. I built it with Phil Wood Hubs and BB. All red and Chrome, as I recall. I will ask him to take pictures. It killed in it's day.

I like the Rebel Racing cruiser...the dropouts are almost identical to Zeronine and Cyclecraft dropouts...I know that some Zeronine and Cyclecrafts were built by the same company...Does anyone know if Rebel Racing is someway connected to Zeronine or Cyclecraft??

Interesting...I'm a mid-school guy for the most part, so I didn't know about the Champion dropouts...I wonder if these companies are all linked in some way or are the later companies copying the original designer?

I'm not sure either.
I've noticed a few other bikes from mid school that had similar dropouts and wondered if they were connected too. Like the 90 and later GT interceptors and a Matt Hoffman bike i saw that had almost identical looped down top bar to flat chainstay design. I would think there would be a copyright violation if they weren't connected somehow. I'm an 80s guy and have no idea if they are or not.

I think the Rebel is one of my favorite builds to date. Its such a different and cool bike that you just don't see that often.
The BXC and Tahoe were built by a little company for these respective small dealers......anyone know who it was???

That Tahoe is very sick.. Where on earth did you get that? I have a frame and fork... I have a hard enough time story the 20" bikes I have, I have no room... I broke a few of them down today. and put them back in boxes for a little bit...all retro's though...

That track looks like Morgan Hill in California. That would be the last straight-away over the triples and onto the finishline. I think this photo was the huffy nationals back in 81.

The non-looptail Tahoe 24's were built by VDC.
The 20's which all had looptails, and looptail 24's may have been built by Trackmaster. Though VDC may have done these as well.
BXC were made BY VDC.
Traker were made by VDC.
HBS were made by VDC.
CW were made by VDC.
VDC and Trackmaster were the frame manufacturers behind many of the BMX companies.
I think VDC may have also bought some looptail style dropouts from Trackmaster, and some looptail style dropouts, machined BB's, and headtubes from Cook Bros. Which he used on some of the frames he made for other companies.
