Hey! Finally got a chance to sit down at the computer and check the forums. I'm hoping someone can help me identify what year my GJS is. I suspect early eighties but co-worker who gave it to me can't narrow it down 82 or 83 he says. Serial no is 1168. He bought it at a bike shop in Iowa. Here are the pics finally. Had to snap them with a phone in the living room but they came out half decent.

I can't help you on the year. But, very nice score!

Do a search here on Vintage for GJS. There is a timeline in one of the threads. 82 or 3 would be correct because of the small size of the top gusset tube.

With the SN, I'm going with 1981.

I think the '80 and '81's had the different sized tubes based on what I've seen.

I love the superfolous tube bracing.

I'm not sure about dates, but I thought they removed the brace connecting the top tube with the downtube by 81. My guess would have been putting your bike closer to '79-'81, but no later. But that's a 30 year old memory. Not to be trusted.

Oh! Super sick bike by the way!

Awesome, looks like a great survivor. GJS's weren't the most common things BITD.
