There is still 4 days left in the auction. Are you ending the contest this early on purpose?

let me clarify. the contest guesses ended today.
this was done to keep folks from waiting until the last minute to guess which isn't fair to the earlier guessers.
someone above will win a vbmxshirt once the auction ends on the 15th.

looks like various sites list various exchange rates?
we are going to stick with what ebay says to keep it normalized for everyone.
current bid info on the ebay auction says:

(approximately US $1,555.17)

I was happy that he allowed me to ship it to a friend or I wouldn't have been able to bid on it. Skyway nuts definitely know the impact of a 1983 NOS TA. Don't confuse this with the re welded 1985 stamped frame sets that skyway did a few years ago. I have passed on dozens of those for around $500 or less. They are no where near or even comparable to a real first generation NOS TA. The re releases have different powder, different stickers, and a few other differences. That one was the real deal. That is only the 2nd NOS 83 Skyway ever found the other was found in Canada and had a headset pressed in it back in or around 1998. There are three NOS 1984 models that I have recorded and two NOS TA XL frame sets. The rest are 85 skyway re release frame sets which are quite plentiful.

i parted ways with this thoroughbred a couple yrs back .... an avid collector across the pond now proudly owns her.
pretty sure jeff knows who i speak of and is one of the frame sets he makes reference too....
i don't consider myself a historian or a curator and i'd never be able to bring myself to build such a treasure, so i let her go to someone that could preserve and display her as they saw fit --- i only collect what i can still ride and enjoy --- can't say it wasn't nice owning her for the time i did though, not to mention the thrill it was to have been the one to unearth her from her slumber in that dreary old shop cellar.

i found her by finding the fork hung on a hook behind a few other garbage forks (including a nos wht Hutch Judge fork) behind a new slotted wall the shop had placed in front for displaying newer items ..... when i asked if i could buy the fork the owner said he couldn't sell it, because it was part of a frame set he had stashed away ..........
the rest of the story is what some might consider to be a wet dream.
but in this particular case it was more of a wet reality.
