I got this frame of NBL in a trade...I have never seen this frame in person, so needless to say I was awestruck when I opened her up...This monocoque frame still has all the factory stickers/warning labels on it and came with its original box cool.gif Super-cool fat welds that come right down the center of the top tube similar to Haro Monocoque's, Technique's, and Redman Warrior frames - I haven't seen one of these on ebay in quite a while, I would be interested in what one of these would bring on the open market...please post up pics of your XLR8R's I'd love to see some completes! Oh yea, and take a look at the seat post tube...it looks like it's flipped around...usually the cut in the tube faces the rear and this one faces the front...anyone know a reason for that??

Awesome!!! They are one of the best Redline frames ever made. Very similar to the Redman frames.

Mike,

I'm glad you like the frame so much. I actually thought of you when I was first told about the frame.

Se racing was one of the first companies to do the cut in the front of the seat tube. My Reynolds Quadangle had the cut in the front. My guess is that is puts more material in the rear where it is needed. Since almost all of the weight goes to the rear, I think it ultimately makes a little stronger of a frame. My Turner 6 pack which is a two thousand dollar MTB frame also has the cut in the front.

Cool info on the front cut seat tubes...I have never seen one like that...Reynolds Quad huh? I love SE stuff...I would love to see it...

I like them cut in the front because then the emblem on the clamp faces to the back of the bike. Like the look of it that way better.

Sweet frame. Plan on building it up?

I only have a pic or two of the Quad. I built it when I was 10 or 11 which is 20 years ago. Original build was dual duty with Standing Gear forks, Vector Bob Haro Replicas, Skyway Campy Sealed Graphites, Redline 401 flights 180 mm, D-c Nippons, Hutch Freestyle Pedals and White and Pink Se Freestyle Fred Blood pads. Its second build was full race with Landing Gears, Bullseye's Chrome 7x's, Robinson Bars, Dk Stem and a Black Uni Turbo. Build weight on the second build was about 21 lbs.

Sounds great! Can't wait to see them...how do you like your rider?
osrlracer
Mike, I should have said last race rider. the parts on it were just what I could find in my lbs. not much race stuff around here. it rides real nice, but could be alot lighter. my son rides it too but it's too big for him, he's about 5' 7". wish the decals were good on it ..... I found 1 set of nos decals but now I don't want to use them !
monocoquemike
Very cool...I know what you mean about using the NOS decal sets...I have one that I'll prolly never use...not Redline Xlr8r, but Redman Warrior...I'm sure they're both like finding a needle in a haystack to find actuall NOS decals and not repros...

Here's my xlr8r. smile.gif
