Just finished!!! What do you think? ....and yes I know they are not race inc. forks- they are Tange, but looked better with the lonley stickers on them that were left over from the frame set. tongue.gif

looks solid. I'm thinkin cycle pro foiler. What's the Ser #
chicagopat
SN#RA0582 I also have a Cycle Pro Foiler, and a FMF that look similar. wink.gif

I am thinking foiler as well. Note the long gusset behind the seatpost and the triangle rear drop outs. Look under the bottom bracket at the lug that connects to the chain stays. See if the lug has a weld bead in the center AKA welded lug. If so that is a 1978 or earlier frame.

In any event nice frame.

Awesome dude. Race Inc's are new to me, so I don't know much about them...but I think yours is a foiler, by the looks of your top tube and drop outs...here's mine

Yes, the weld bead is there. The long triangular gusset behind the seatpost is the only way to tell the Foilers,Race, and FMF's apart. FMF is longer than Race inc. (as far as I know- I could be wrong) that is what I was told. All 3 of my oval top tube frames have diamond dropouts and are identical except for that triangle. My blue anno had Cycle Pro Foiler stickers that look original (still does not prove it is). My anno red FMF had FMF stickers on it, and the Race inc. had stickers on it so faded I could barely read them, that's why I replaced them. I ride and build and know my stuff- but by no means do I claim to be a expert as some of you are. So if you know the differences (if there are any- because from what I know they were all made at the same factory) then please educate me. And from what I know one of the differences was that the FMF's had a small hole in the gusset. Unlike the Race inc. and the Cycle Pro Foiler. I thought that Race inc. factory (Bill Bastain) actually made these frames for all of these companies anyway? Am I wrong? Please correct me if I am tongue.gif

Yes, Bill Bastian made ALL these frames. If this frame has a Race Inc serial number (RAxxxx), THEN IT IS A RACE INC. End of discussion. I have owned numerous Cycle Pro Foilers, Laguna's, FMF's and Race Inc's and have had THREE with the Foiler top tube AND an RA serial number. The Race Inc with a Foiler top tube is no different than a loop PK with a round top tube. Bastian used whatever he had.

I do find it strange though for this frame to have the welded lug, long gusset, Foiler top tube AND a serial number like you stated BUT we all know anything is possible from Bastian.

Nice build Pat. smile.gif

Here was my nicest one. It' in Fla now. It had the one piece lug, short gusset and std dropouts BUT the other two had the long gussett and Diamond dropouts WITH a serial (which is odd on a diamond drop frame).

you beat me to it Brian...RA ser# is RInc. At least I was cool enough to ask for it. Sorry TIM, I mean Brian cool.gif

Still not happy with you........LOL

I stand a bit more educated thanks to Mr. Hayes. So just how many variations of that frame are there, 6???

So how much do you want to sell me this blue one for???
BRIAN HAYS
Unfortunately, in a moment of weakness, I sold it a couple of months ago. The buyer parted it out and flipped it all on Ebay. A guy in Florida has it now and won't part with it.
