"They started out watching me bust my ***, and I became part of their lives," Knievel said. "People wanted to associate with a winner, not a loser. They wanted to associate with someone who kept trying to be a winner."
I love Bikes and motorcycles because of the man...Rip EVEL

Oh man, that's bad news.
My winter EK project was supposed to be about fun, not a memorial......
I suppose the Hoffman EK's will be coming out of the wordwork on ebay now.
RIP Evel, you were the reason I got into this whole daredevil bike stuff in the first place.

I can remember playing EK (stunt cycle)under the oak tree in my yard growing up for hours at a time and never being bored. My 1st bmx style bike was aprox:1974 EK bike it had a paded gas tank ,#plate, fenders, and I think rear shock. Bitd we left our bikes outside so it got stolen . The man inspired so many of us , I can close my eyes and see his crash's. His image's are burned into my memory forever . Thanks Evil for every car, truck, bus, ect. that you cleared or didn't. First jump when I get to the track is for you Evil.

I'm with GARY , when I get to the track . one lap in silence for The King. I got to see him when I was a kid.My brother used to race flattrack and enduro's at Fremont Raceway. one night I saw a flyer that said he was coming to fremont!!!! I tore it off the pole it was on and ran thru the pits to find my dad I couldnt get the words out, I just stood there shakin the flyer in the air!! I had just hit the lottery for kids!! the day of his jump he did his warm up show and I remember studying everything he did cause like most of you, I WAS HIM. Had his tractor trailer with the up coming snake river canyon jump painted on the side, and he also had this trike that was a jet engine with wheels and some handle bars!!! we got to see some really cool things at that track all the old school cars and drivers. but the coolest day ever was when we got to see Evel Knievel fly...

After years of stunts of awe-inspiring manliness, Knievel's genetalia grew so large that it placed undue stress on his cardiovascular system, and he died on November 30, 2007, at the age of 69

He was a great pioneer. This news of his passing actually makes me feel worse than the passing of John Lennon, Elvis, Kennedy, and John Holmes.
Now he is hanging out with Jim Pomeroy in heavan.
Evil was awsome in everyway.

Im lucky enough to be in the same area as Evel, and have seen his cars in traffic, his daily Harleys in shops etc, but never did get to say hello. Funny true story, a few years back he was living in a condo type building, and having trouble moving his full dresser Harley out of the "storage" area. A local dj Cowhead also lived there and offered to help. Evel's reply, though clearly struggling from age and illness, was...... "Im F&^%$N Evel Knievel damn it, I dont need no help" !!
And those around here knew him as that, ornery right to the end, be it in person, on the phone or whatever. He kissed no butts, and thats what made him cool. Miss ya, wish I got that picture in. Came so close so many times. Thanks for the wheelies and all the rookie cards I put in my spokes!

I wrote this in here about a week ago:
"The kids who could wheelie (or Catwalk) the furthest were always the coolest dudes in town! Remember the friendly contests? I'm talking late 60's early 70's... Back then, that was the most rad thing in any neighborhood... That and maybe some crazed Knievel inspired ramp jumping."
I've always respected the man and now I revere him.
My sympathies go out to Rob and the family.
Sincerely,
Pete

As a kid he was a big influence, we spent alot of time jumping stuff pretending to be him.
He was on "Hour of Power" not too long ago sharing his history and his faith.
Checkout the video on Youtube below. There are also several tribute videos there.

This is really sad news. I, like many of you, was HUGELY influenced by EK as a kid. He had me doing crazy things on a bike long before there was BMX. I got to meet him several years ago at Interbike when he was doing some stuff for Mat Hoffman, and it was awesome. The guy was larger than life for his entire life. RIP Evel.

I remember that on the BTLS show when I lived down there.
I used to drive up his street sometimes for work and always hoped I would get to see him out there but never did.

"Next year the Ideal Toy Company is going to make a lot of Evel Knievel toys. ... One toy I'd like them to make is my own idea; I think it's the most super toy in the world. You wind it up, it goes like a little bugger, goes across the floor, grabs this little Barbie doll, throws her on the floor, gives her a little lovin', jumps back on the motorcycle and goes whizzing out the door screaming, 'G.I. Joe is a fa**ot!' " -- Evel Knievel
