whats up playas? I picked up this P61 a few months ago for nostalgic purposes and figured I'd show it off. I wanted this bike when I was 15 years old back in 97, but I couldn't afford it so I bought a brand new Elf Pro XL instead that I'm also gonna build. This is unfortunately a 99 I think based on the serial number which is 09961906 XL.

Besides the sprocket, tires, grips, bars and fork is this bike factory? I wanna change some things up and make it my own...

Sweet bike! I love the cranks! I'm not positive, but I think that Powerlites had powerlite stickers on the fork, but it's definately got the right theme going considering Powerlite is a GT company...I'm pretty sure that it would have the wheelset or one like it with GT hubs...

Yes I agree with Mike on the forks but they are in the family so.....
A few of those have popped on Craigslist here in Az. They sure are a nice looking bike!

Anyone know what sprocket is on there? I like the looks on that also.

yeah, the dude I bought it from did I pretty nice job on it. I wanna change some things to suit my liking. The sprocket is 3 letters which I can't remember right now. I'll get that for u guys later. I'd probably be willing to trade it for a black GT Pro Series sprocket from the mid 90's. I can't remember the name of it, but it looks like an old VW Teardrop wheel.
It looks like the bars and fork on this thing are a few years older than the frame. I might handle that at some point too. I would really love to powder this thing white. With all the black on it, I think it'd contrast well.
are the brakes factory? I have no clue what they are... thanx for the help and kind words.
thats an AC sprocket, adventure components.

What does the little sticker say on the right brake arm. They look like they are early Montian Bike or Cycle Cross brakes.
Yes I agree the "dude" you got it from did a nice job.

Kicking ride.
I would leave the frame black. Maybee change out the seat post for a sliver/chrome one. I really like how the chrome on the decals standes out against the black.
Hit me up with a PM. I have a set of chrome power lite forks if you are intrested.

I'm digging it a lot!
I have a soft spot for '90's Powerlites and have a couple myself.
The black looks good but WHITE would be sick!

I like this bike a lot!!
It's like a monster truck...only it's a bike.
what size are those tires? they look HUGE! I have no clue what that sprocket is, but the machining looks new-school.
Mid-school or even late-mid-school whould'nt have been that complex. Sweet bike for sure!

Not that it needs it but every cool Gt family bike always looks cool with muscle forks on it if you can't find Powerlite forks.

haha, they're 2.125 & 1.75 Maxxis MaxDaddy's.
Old Skull, pm me a pic of the forks if you can.
NBL, what do muscle forks look like? I don't think I've ever seen em.
I agree that the bike looks awesome. I was pretty happy to get it for what I got it for, but I can't take any credit for it cause I didn't build it. thats why I wanna change some stuff up.

That sprocket is an AC(Adventure Components) brand and the model of it is the AC/DC.
http://www.adventurecomponents.com/rings.htmNice bike and it looks like the correct parts for it are snapin' together quick for ya. Congrats!
If thats a '99 though it should have V-brakes and not canti's. I'd say that red Shimano DX brake & lever would be about right. As soon as Vbrakes came out everyone ditched the canti's inna hurry.

Here are some Nos Muscle forks on Starchild's Auburn. I had suggested these fork to him also. I am really glad the bike came out so cool looking.

Gt Stilletto forks would look cool also.

just to let you know that p61 is a 1996 model. i just picked up a 94 like it. i think the cranks might be from a 99 , dont know when they started using the fsa cranks. i own a vw shop i spotted those bbs whhels right away. they would look good on my abf powered mk2 gti

thanks for the info. I actually just put the bike up for sale on ebay...
the RS's look dope on any properly lowered mk2. They'll be on my 91 as soon as the sand is off the road.
