Lots of folks interested in Austin but it's kind of a bad time of year weather-wise and people just have alot of other stuff going on with the holidays and all that. We're getting ready to open a new track in Leander just outside Austin and I think the possibility of an oldschool show/swap meet sort of thing is pretty good sometime next spring.

Just noticed this.
I'd be down.
It might be a good idea to post this in the vintage forum. I never look at the gatherings forum.

We have some postings on www.txbmx.com where we will continue to update on the track. This will be a central location where we post stuff about central texas bmx. As soon as our track is up, I am going to totally revamp the txbmx site and make it better.

http://www.26bmx.com/Just to let you Texans know,in case you don't. 26bmx usually has a meet in Austin Tx. I'm not too sure when he has it, but I am almost positive it's in September.PERHAPS, you could combine the 2 into one big shoe...show. Follow the link, there are tons of 26" Cruiser pics on his website.
With enough planning on my part and someone setting a date in stone, I might be able to make it.

Alright, let's not let this die.
I have and idea I'll throw to the wolves.
How about a gathering in Dallas? I know the owners and managers of a couple bars or restraunts that might be game for said event in their parking lot or common area.
A couple of possible options.
http://www.elbowroomdallas.com/ This place is very close to downtown...and a hospital.

Maybe I could call Jeff Newton and see if he'll give a tour of Zorlac skateboards.
http://www.barrettmanor.com/julie/archive.aspx?id=1744 I've spoken w/one of the owners on several occasions and he seems like a cool enough guy. He's in his 30s and likely remembers BMX fondly. A big plus, it'sright next to the Dart Rail, which affords travel all the way to downtown Dallas.
The other option is Country Burger in Plano, TX. They don't have a website that I know of. They also have real Blue Bell shakes

No shake base!
I'd be happy to put the feelers out there if this sounds like something worth doing. I know there are lots of you guys in Austin/San Antonio and Houston. Would you be up for a road trip or is DFW like a whole other world away?
Let me know.

Just a thought. Why not just meet at one of the Frankenbike meets. There is one every month in Austin with a swap meet. Check it out at www.frankenbike.org

I think the Frankenbike thing is the best idea so far. Chris always has a band or two playing, usually a keg, and tons of bike people milling about. We did a VBMX show at one a few years ago and had a blast. Let me know what you guys think and I'll give Chris a call.
