Hey all! My first post, but I've been reading these forums for a couple weeks now. Brings back some awesome memories from when I was into the BMX/Freestyle thing in the '80's. A co-worker and I were B.S.ing after work about BMX. He told me he had a GJS he bought new in '82 or '83 at his l.b.s., but none of his kids wanted the bike now. They all have newer "cooler" bikes I guess. and he knew I was into those old bikes. The next day he says "here ya go!" It's a GJS "A-Frame" (dark blue w/gold and blue components) All components are original from the day he bought the bike. Hi-lites include Race Inc. Bars according to the sticker. (anodized gold), Tuf-neck stem (annodize blue and Immaculate with Pro-Neck Snap on Gooseneck pad). The only change to this bike that I can detect is the grips. This thing doesn't appear to have ever had a wrench on it since it rolled out of the L.B.S. This is the kind of Bike I would have given my left nu....ahem! (arm) for BITD, so I plan on keeping it. My question is what would you guys do, if anything as far as restoration? I was kind of planning on stripping and re-painting the f/f but its really not bad (some chips and a small dent in the fork near the brake-mount hole) and I don't know if I'll be able to find stickers for the f/f. (no stickers on the bike currently). Sorry to send this post without pics. I'll borrow a digital cam and post'em soon. Just really wanted to post about this bike tonight. Also any info that you guys can give me on GJS and or Pics would be greatly appreciated. (I've already seen the stuff on the Bmx Museum site) Interested in seeing any info I can get my hands on.

Sounds like an ultra sweet survivor, most guys would probably say leave if it is still decent.
Sounds awesome, I look forward to the pictures!
Welcome Chadbo.

Thanx Paul, I'm kinda leaning toward leaving it as-is 'cept I want to find some old school A'mes in blue. I'm really looking forward to digging into this thing and cleaning it up and regreasing it as I plan to ride it a little. With the weather getting cold, it'll be a good project to keep me out of trouble. Pre-cleanup pictures coming soon.

Wow, that's very cool! If the original paint only has a few minor flaws and you want to ride it some anyway, if it were me I'd leave it as is. If it were totally messed up I'd suggest a full resto to bring it back to what it should be, but from what I can see in the pix, that's looking pretty good.
Awesome score, that's a cool friend you have there to give you that!

That's incredible. Thats thing is worth a ton of cash...not only because of what it is, but because of the condition too. VERY NICE. That thing needs nothing but a quick cleaning, maybe a little light steel wool on some chrome areas. Even the colors are perfectly co-ordinated.

Awesome ride, that thing is incredible. You must bring it out to Rockford this Summer so we can drool over it. Agreed, you have an awesome friend to give that to you. Keep us posted on the clean up and progress.
