Click to view attachmentI saw this come up for auction on the bay and didnt think it was a Vector but initially thought it was a Zeronine so I placed a bid. I win the auction and begin to look into whether or not its actually a single down tube Vector or a Zeronine Pro. Well, I dont think its a Zeronine- unless its newer than '86 which I cant find pics of them.. but dont believe that it could be because of the drop outs. both the Vector and Zeronine share similar dropouts but are not identical. I believe it more than likely could be a Vector but was wondering if any of you Vector aficionado's out there could help me out. do single downtube vectors exist?
thanks in advance

I saw that one but shyed away from it. I thought maybe it was an MCS.
Ressurrector
yeah MCS was also a possibility but they have a different brake bridge and the drop outs dont come to a point- the closest thing is a Vector as the seller states. MCS also has the added bar/brace behind the bottom bracket unlike the supposed Vector. Either way- For $90 it was worth picking up.. It might be a score.. or might be nothing.. I was really hoping it was a Zeronine.

Looks like a Vector from an overseas-made complete.
mr coasterbrake
i've seen a few of these over the years. none have had decals, so i don't know how they were marketed. that's a US-style brake bridge (the taiwans were without the "v" cut). my guess is they are from the time just after the Martinos and the Baumans (i think it was) parted ways.
Ressurrector
thanks for all the insight guys, I apprecitate it. Mr.coasterbrake: its odd that you've never seen them with decals..strange indeed.. tntman: always a pleasure dealing with you- thanks again for the parts, so you think maybe a Jag aye? I'll look into that.
anyone else have any ideas?
thanks again,
-Tim

hey man no problem.. if you use those cranks, let me see how they look on a bike.. i have my pk up for sale

let me know if you are interested, i pretty much threw the reamaining parts i didnt wan away. but ive kept a few complete bikes and a few, very few parts to sell off..
Ressurrector
Tntman, yeah man, I'd like to see what you got.
Ok, I was over at OS-bmx and saw a Vector Mark I that looked like a mini version of what I got. any possibility that there were larger Mark 1's available.. say a junior, pro or expert size? thanks
-Tim
mr coasterbrake
no, the "Mark" names were the models. Mark 1 was the mini. Mark 2 was the pro. Mark 3 was the cruiser.

those single DT Mark 1s were later on, too. the earlier ones had double DTs, just like the bigger frames.

the folks behind Vector also made some Zeronine frames. i didn't think they used the elliptical DT on those, though...but maybe.

it could be a jag

Not a Jag from either era. I thought the Vector Victory I's were single downtube.

Hey Steve.

mr coasterbrake
the Victory 1 was just the complete bike version using a Mark 2 frame.

the Victory 2 was the cheaper/taiwanese complete bike, but still had double DT.

thanks for the clarification. I wonder then, if this is a mini Mark 1 frame.. I still havent received it from the seller so its hard to give out any other info on it.
thanks again Mr Coasterbrake.

whats up Ranger,
good looking out man but I dont think so bro, that Rebel looks more like a Zeronine,MCS, or Jag in the downtube (round not oval) and drop outs dont come to a point. they are definitely cool.. so you got a list for me yet? hit me up when you do.thanks

Still puzzled on this one. I have only found out what its NOT...**scratches head**
its not a Rebel, not a Zeronine, not a Vector MARK I or II, not an MCS neither..

it has the rear end of a Vector- same dropouts, same "V" notched brake bridge-same chainstay tubes.. etc.. Has the same single oval down tube of a mini Mark I Vector with the exception of an added gusset @ the head tube.

other info to help identify: has a 19" top tube to seat tube length, 10 1/4" seat tube total length..

has seriel numbers under the American bottom bracket (not on drop outs like zeronine) and they are 5 numbers "22448"

also the drop outs are "waffle" preforated around where the axle nuts attach just like the Zeronines.

anyone out there have any ideas?

thanks
~Tim
