Picked up a JMC 24" locally here in Colorado. The seller had it on ebay, and I emailled him for some info. We ended up working a deal because I was local and, as he said, didn't give him a hard time like some other apparently had via ebay. I got a great deal on it and am psyched to finally get one of these!

The set is in awesome, unrestored condition. All original decals. Serial number 83c103. It was
shipped to Why Not Schwinn bike shop 1/4/1984 according to Jim Melton (anyone know where that was?). Bars are 1st gen JMC DY's, again, original decal. Seatpost was not a JMC as far as I can tell (no cap on end). Profiles were newer version, but as you can see I put 2nd gen's on along with my NOS Arayas with black GT hubs. I won the ESP stem on ebay last night, and thats going on here also. This is going to be built up as pure show n' go for Rock 08.

Damn...Colorado is paying off for you already. You've been there like what...2 months? haha
Kurt.
Beautiful and rare bike. You've gotta love Jim Melton's work. Awesome.

Nice one Tom! You've been talking about finding a JMC cruiser for years, time for a new grail?

Those look like FAB bars to me, not DY's. Win/Win.

Why Not Schwinn was (is) in Mansfield, OH. They now have locations in Lexington, OH and Mt.Vernon, OH and I am pretty good friends with the current owner (son of the guy who owned it in the 70s/80s). It now operates under the name Y-Not Cycling and Fitness. I was just there Friday to pick up some inner tubes and talked to the owner.

The owner is very cool and used to race BMX in the 80s with me. He now is a road rider and mountain biker, but I beleive still has some old BMX stuff.

Given the fact that this bike was sold very local to me in a time when I was very heavily into BMX, I probably know or know of the person who bought it new. Just wish I knew who!

Here is a link to their current website.

yeah, Colorado has been wonderful so far in most every aspect. My wife, son and I live it here and just wish we had moved sooner!!! LOTS of awesome Vintage guys out here (Eric, Lee, The Raynes brothers...) and I think its going to get even better!!!

Found this the other day in a shop......not a huge 20" guy, but it brought back lots of memories when I saw it. Found a decent King Sting at a swap meet if anyone is interested in one of those too!!

Add another one to the elite club. That looks great Tom. I can`t believe with all the cruisers you have/had you never had a JMC? I got mine a couple of months ago. I won`t put it togther, I`ll let it sit in my daughters closet. Out of site out of mind.

That is a sweet bike. Am I the only person curious as to what you paid for it?

Enough to make me think I might be crazy, but not as much as others have spent on some of my stuff. smile.gif

I might make that silly list of items that were sold for crazy amounts.

I think most of us would probably make that list if we were fortunate enough to run across that bike. Congrats on the awesome find

I built a spreasheet to keep track of all my parts. I also decided to add a column for what I paid and, if I sold it, what I sold it for. Then, at the bottom, it calculates a net expense. To be honest, I thought it would be worse, but it was still surprising.

I did that with 4+ years of high volume buying and selling. The numbers would blow your mind...... LOL
