Full Version: What Can You Tell Me About My Torker 280?

Hey, this is my first post, so excuse me if this isn't de rigueur for this section of the forum, but I have a vintage Torker 280 that I was hoping someone here could tell me about. I know next to nothing, but I know that I've had several people offer to buy it from me on the spot, for varying sums of money. In fact, I've got it listed on eBay now, and several people have asked me about a Buy It Now, although no one ever names a price. Anyway, all information is appreciated!

(There are more photos here, in my Flickr photoset, if you care.)

i'd say that's pre-280 model with an added "280" decal.

the 280 was a complete "economy" bike that cost +/-$280 (hence the name "280"). that is for sure not anywhere near the build spec of a 280, and i don't think 280s came in blue. wrong headtube decal, too.

the 280 did use the same frame as could be bought separately, so there is not a quality difference. very early 280s used a 1" diameter downtube (as did all other previous Torkers). shortly after the 280 came out Torker beefed up the downtube to 1 1/8".
