Tanker Kranker
I acquired a set of non-pinch 401's back in the spring of '81. I'd been using Takagi 180 mm OPC's forever, and was looking forward to trying a set of the then "new" Flight cranks. They were stiff as heck, but I had to carry the T-handle allen wrench in my frame pad because the crank bolts came loose every 1/4 mile or so. After about two weeks of that, I gave up on the Flights and reverted back to my Takagi's. I really liked the look of the Redline sprocket, so I had my best-buddies Father modify the sprocket to fit a OPC. Also, because the early sprockets were designed for a 1/8" chain, I had him machine the teeth to fit my favorite 3/32" Sedis Sport chains. Worked great, I won and lost a bunch of races with it. Here are a couple pics of the modified sprocket today.

Did that in reverse: The ELF I had in the early 90's had Flights, with the ELF power disc and chainring fitted on.

On the freestyle side; I had a set of those awful Tioga Air-Step bars. I cut off those steps before long.

I'm pretty sure I filed out the center of a Redline gear to fit on my Takagis in the 1980s too.

On the subject of Flights coming loose every 1/4 mile...mine never, ever came loose. Until the day that I installed a $50 (big $$ at the time) Tecmatic bottom bracket. From that day forward, my Flights never stayed tight and never stopped squeaking, regardless of how much Loc-Tite I used. It was vexing, to say the least.
