Looptail PK Rippers were made from 1979 to 1984. A PK serial number means absolutely nothing. They stamped the dropouts and threw them in a box and grabbed a dropout out of the box to weld to each frame. The highest loop PK serial numbers that ended in 1984 were in the 6 thousand-early 7 thousand number range so your 4xxx serial would put the frame in the 81-82 range.

DEFINATELY!! You won't be sorry. Even if you build it and decide you don't wanna keep it, it will sell very easy and bring decent money. Loop PK Rippers are quite possibly the most popular oldschool frame out there. Build it and enjoy it.

Yet you answered his question and gave him a semi-accurate ball park year for his frame...COOL!!
You know Brian, I wish I could find the bmx plus magazine where Mike Devitt actually explains how to decode a PK serial number...then I know later he said they had no rhyme nor reason. I rarely put stock in what many old pros or industry insiders have to say, they contradict themselves many times.
