Hello fellow bmxer's, just come across this web site, it's great - just thought I'd share with you guys my old ride, bought it way back in 1984 as a complete Hutch ProStar, it's still all original, rides like a dream. Even banging bars with the new school.
Enjoy

Jackpot!!! That is an awesome bike! Love seeing it is still getting used! I would say it, could quite possible be the last complete Pro Star still being raced!
Raced my lowly Hutch Pro Racer on the week too! (26)

very cool bike-the best part is that you're racing it. you and I think alike...
was that your first time out in a while-if so, how did it go?

Sweet! Its awesome that you still race it, but just a heads up, you might want to look at what it'll cost to replace those cranks
before you break them.

Is your PM box full of offers yet?

EDIT: Awesome ride! Thank you for sharing pics of it...and welcome to the website!

That's the only thing that goes through my mind everytime I ride it - if it breaks I'd be gutted. And it would cost a small fortune to fix it. Do they go for a lot of money - the complete bike that is?

riding that bike, you probably won because all the other racers were reaching for their wallets...

Martin....don't pursue the "is it worth a lot?" angle. At Vintagebmx that type of discussion is frowned upon in this Vintage BMX Racing Forum.
CLICK HERE. Just a friendly heads-up.
Yea, it's worth a lot.

Cheers mate, and sorry about that.
I have some more pictures of my bike, i'll scan them in and post them up - I've got one with me (my bike) and Tim Judge, when he came to England to race, sometime in the late 80's.

martinparker
Oct 17 2007, 01:51 PM
No, not bournemouth, haven't been there for around 15 years, Dagenham track and Braintree and one shot was from Hounslow, my local track back in the day.

Glad to see you racing again, but its time to put that beauty to pasture and get a new school bike for racing.

You would hate yourself if something happened to it, very few original ProStars are still out there and they can pull 6-7 grand if not more when they come up for sale.

Oct 17 2007, 03:07 PM
very cool you kept that bike - sick!
As for racing it - maybe once or twice but you may like to consider getting a new school bike if you are going to race regularly.
Firstly the newer tracks would suit a new school bike better but most importantly it would keep your Hutch from getting trashed.
Yeah they are worth a small fortune, but aside from that it's in original condition and an example of 'history' maybe best left for light riding.

Andy, shut the hell up. lol
(I've raced my fully restored Judge and XL 24, and am a huge advocate of riding and racing them)
I love it when a newb with 6 posts comes on this site and says "hey guys, check out my Pro Star." Instantly everyone's best friend. hahaha

ride your butt off, dude. Show the real newbs where it's at.
Even crumpled hutches fetch a bank, if that's your goal.
Great post.

Welcome Martin ! Pretty cool to see a pro-Star still get-in busy and winning out there,,, The bike is certainly worth alot,,, but seeing you catching air and winning on it,, is price-less,, I say win a few more, or clean it off and lock it up in a safe, just make sure your having fun.
By the way,, are those Hutch logos on the tires ?? Just Awesome !!!!

"Firstly the newer tracks would suit a new school bike better but most importantly it would keep your Hutch from getting trashed."
No disrespect, but I couldn't disagree more-It ain't the bike that wins the race.
You just have to have the attitude of 'if it breaks, it's o.k., that is what it was meant for" if that's not your attitude-hang it on a wall and remember what you used to be able to do with it.
great pics man, keep them coming.

Lets get it straight, this bike will not end up in 'for sale section' I bought it years ago to be raced, and raced it did, all over europe and I even raced it in the world champs, mid 80's, it bought me national plates and trophies, so NO it ain't for sale - it's for RIDING/RACING. Been up alnight going through this site - wicked.

Hey Martin, good for you, keep doing what you want with your bike, I had a pro-racer back in the 80's that I raced, sold it to buy my first car, and regretted it for a loooong time. Got me another Hutch now so I won't let this one go. Cherish that bike and welcome!!
