When did they start making the Reynolds quads? I just got a frame from a friend, dated 7 83 2001.

Where the small top tube meets the middle of the main tube, there is this small plate welded on to the main tube, which looks factory. This plate isn't on my freestyle quad as well as a bunch of other quads that I see online. I'm trying to find out if this is somehow different or even aftermarket?

The decals that are on there appear to be later ones, which threw me off.

Anyone have any info?

Reynolds Quads were made from late 82 until mid 85. The serial on yours makes it the 2001st quad made in July of 1983.

The plate is most likely a factory repair.
