Over the last year, I have slowly built up my JAD 20". On the day I took it out for its maiden voyage, I realized two things. First, I have grown taller (6 inches) and added a whole bunch of weight (nearly 60 lbs.) since my racing days. Second, the 20 inch racer is probably going to be too small for extended periods of riding.
That fateful day has turned me in another direction. Since then, I bought a Robinson cruiser and some other small parts to focus on as my newest project and eventually my daily rider.
Here is were I have drawn a blank. I want a bike that can take me the five mile round trip to and from work while still being fairly comfortable. While a built cruiser is probably more my size, the fixed gear could prove to make the ride a long one. This is one of those hardships I will most likely have to deal with.
Has anyone here experimented with mixing and matching MTB parts with their BMX frames? Specifically front forks (suspension) and 26 front wheels.
Any other suggestions are welcome too so hit me up.
Thanks in advance,
Trav

There is a similar post over in Retro New School. You might want to check that out.
http://oldschoolbmx.com/community/index.ph...wtopic=27000119If you want an inexpensive single speed with decent parts I would suggest checking out the Redline Monocog. The 29er version looks like a lot of fun and is only $475.
I think putting a 26" fork or wheel on a BMX cruiser would completely mess with the frame geometry. You would end up with a really slack ht angle.

Bosshogg, I did what you are talking about a few years ago with a 24 Kuwahara. I used a 6 spd cog with a short cage deraileur on a clamp-on hanger and thumb shifter. You just pull the stays out and use spacers to get clearance. Also used an old rockshock mag 21 with the bolt on fork stem so I could lower it a bit for the 24" wheel, I don't think a 26" wheel up front would ride right. This thing was great for rockin on longer rides. I am currently setting up a Kos with old Deore XT parts for my next urban assault bike.
