I working on an 88 GT Veritgo that is going to be in the day glo pink color but I don't know what color the decals should be.
I know that on a chrome frame the decal were dark blue text with a grey shadow on top of a squiggly thing in pink. Obviously these same colors cannot go onto a pink frame.
Anyone know the colors for those decals and maybe have a some pictures.

I know there are allot of GT experts on here so I'm hoping someone can help me out.

Actually I could use pictures of anything showing an 88 Vertigo. pictures, catalog scans... anything.

well this won't be overly helpful but here is mine:

Came with the GT Ames that were kind of cushy.
black seat clamp with white lettering.
GT logo tires.
white mags.
single piece cranks.
front brake was acs-boa.
chrome fold out pegs.
screw on axle pegs in back, GT stamped and shortish.

lettering was kind of bubbly, I recall pinkish purple and a dark blueish.

Hope this helps you some, Scott. It's all I got...

For the Pink, the lettering would be white, and I am not sure what the squiggly would be. I am think a light blue?

Thanks Axelpeg that pic does help some. I didn't realize these were using rotor's, I thought a gyro maybe.

I was figuring the lettering would be white but yeah I don't know about the squiggle either. Someone sent me a scan of a complete 88 GT catalog a while back and it has some good Vertigo pics in it. Unfortunately I can't find that file now.
I'm assuming the shadow behind the white lettering would still be grey right?

Also does anyone know what brakes would have come on this? I was thinking maybe DC Nippon's?

Thanks, keep the info coming. I need all the help I can get.

the front as mentioned above was an acs boa with the flush bolt out front.
the back brake mounted clear at the bottom with a centerpull, I don't recall buying the Pitbull separate so I guess maybe it came with it?

not nippon brake levers, you had to buy General Pro to get nippons.

The Vertigo's never came in Day-glow.. but don't let that stop you.

If I were you - I'd just upgrade stickers to Performer.. that year they were the same frame - just the Performer came with Mags, and the Vert came with Rims... they were both the low end bikes that year (1988)...

Here's a pic of the sticker color scheme for the Day Glow Pink in 1988 (my PFST)

good luck! smile.gif

Also - the shadowing is dark blue.. see pics above...

and they came with Bull Dog brakes.... and other years they came with "Odyssey 1999's"

Thanks Chromey!

I downloaded the 88 GT catalog from AJK and i noticed it doesn't mention DG pink as a color for the Vertigo. But I distinctly remember my little brother having a Vertigo and it was definitely DG pink. My parents were too cheap to buy a Performer.
I'm building this bike as a gift for him so I haven't been able to pick his brain about it much but 2 things he and I both remember is it being a Vertigo and it being DG pink.
Anyone else have any insight into this? Is it just not possible that the pink is correct?
I have all the other correct parts including spoke wheels with Joytech hubs but now this color things is making me question whether or not I'm building this right.

Either way I'm doing it in pink but now I'm curious.
