Is there a list of the Rarest frames? Or frames that are the most sought after? I know Loop Tail PK Rippers are highly valued but there are thousands out there. How about the Rarest frames and High Value frames?

How about a "round top tube" JU-6. So far I have the only one in collector's hands. Around 50 were made, no telling how many broke and were tossed. Mine was broken when I got it.

also...Hutch Pit, Hutch lawsuit frame.
psycho
How about a GJS cruiser. J.U. said he welded up 3 of them, only knows the were abouts of 1. I agree on the pro thunder/lightning. Never to be found.

Good call, those are very rare. Jeff is still on the hunt for the one with his initials as the serial number.

A REAL under the bottom bracket STR-1 would knock the collecting world on its ear. I think 5 were made.
ColoredTuffs.com
My vote is for the Skyway T/A cruiser. Only 12 made, and the only one that I know of belongs to Rod Miles. It's a beauty!
Sumo178
KE1 Kuwahara ( I think its the KE first model Kuw) that is a pretty rare frame. I have a Tioga Rhino III as listed earlier also not easy to find.

TA cruiser, Phaze 1 cruiser.

I have heard there were Team issue Team Mongooses that had thinner tubing than the regular Team. They apparently cracked after a few races and when they did they had to be given back to Mongoose. I bet there are next to none of those around.

If anyone knows of one I know a buyer! (and its not me)

Glued together Peugeot from France, that would be rare! Can't remember if it was alloy or CrMo

Would a WEBCO PRO Fall under this category?
rumblerdave
BB Racin cruiser... made by Profile for Bike Brokers, early 80's... rare as heck, I don't know how "sought after" though!!!
sirrob
Can anyone post a pic of a pro thunder/lighting and were these frames CrMo.
pk ripped
Rumblerdave's name reminds me of another rare frame...the mid school Rumblefish. I have never seen one on eBay, raced against one in 1992, and saw one for sale for crazy money at Rockford (nos too), thats it.
bob 3000
ta 24" is my holy grail. nishiki's are quite rare, nat. pro long's are few and far between, then a lot of different pit's are rare and expensive.
Jody Rose
How rare are the Kyle Fleming Replica DG's?
HurricaneHenry
I predict one the frames mentioned here will be unveiled in the near future and it's gonna knock your socks off.
Curt
I have a couple of rare ones including a one off factory Scorpion frame. Originally built for Byron Friday, it is a lugged frame, chrome tubes (no head tube gusset) black lugs and a wheel base around 40 inches. Built for a tall hombre. I am sure it is 1 of 1, although I belive a few other custom made scorpions were built, for Mahlon Abrams I think. Having said that no big demand $$$ for Scorpion that I have seen

I agree with the JU-6 round top or otherwise, also the STR original, the TW, and/or any one off factory built.

Other bikes that are cool would be frame, forks and/or parts that certain bike shops had made for in house use. Such as Ralphs Bicycles, Wes BMX, etc.

Click to view attachmentI think this is basically a huffy pro thunder 24" marketed under the name raceline and sold at Schucks auto supply around 1981-1983 (rims are date stamped 10 81) it is bone stock and in good shape for its age. All the decals are there even the bmx competition certified decals in the round indent in the gusset. It was sitting on the curb with a free sign on it and i drove by it for three days before stopping and taking look at it, i liked what i saw so i brought it home.

There was one the ended last week, whole bike went for about $800.-which I though was a pretty good buy for the uniqueness alone.
and yeah the SW24 and the GJS big tube and pretty slick.

Wow, I cant believe I didnt see that auction. That frame was featured in a BMX Plus magazine lightest pro size bmx project around 1992. I always thought they were cool frames.

How about - REBEL I remember a friend of mine raced a Rebel around 1982 - 1983. But I don't see any info on the rebel. Or the WEBCO PRO.
Michael Weaver
I know exactly where there are 3 GJS's.

1. I have here a sheetmetal gusset model. (for sale)

2. I have access to a BIG TUBE GJS.

3. I also have access to one GJS 24" Cruiser built by Jeff BITD.

Also a GJS race banner cool.gif

I'd be interested in that Big Tube if it's available, and, of course, a finders fee biggrin.gif

The rarest and most expensive frames are NOMURA and DG 24 and 26" and as far as numbers in the 20" realm there is the Direct Link, OldSkoolPK on a diffrent site has 'em and they are $$$$$! Also MR. Stix is a rare bird. The 1 and only SE 24/26 Hybrid Quad made for Scot OM in early 1980-81?

I Agree on the Skyway 24" that is totally rare!

PEP
sorry, have to represent the freestylers here & say the single top tube, no standing platform haro sport from 83-84. 3 known to be made I believe. Dominguez broke one & there were another chrome & white one.
Daver6
How about a Roger Decoster with the extra gusset by the bb and no brake bridge?
BRIAN HAYS
26/24 Nomura. 15 built. One of 5 known to exist.

24" Nomura. 6 built. 2 known to exist
TuRBo Todd Britton
Hey ColoredTuffs, Jeff Haney has a TA 24" as well (shown at Rockford a couple years ago, along with Rod's). Like PKRipped said, a REAL STR-1 has to be "it" for an answer...
Flanelcamel
1 of 1 kinda rare! cool.gif
proline2
LOL, i have to laugh at answers that include prototypes or "one offs" for a pro. of course they're gonna be rare for obvious reasons.

i think MORE interesting answers would be the obscure frame builders who actually produced for the general public. we've probably had a few frame builders here in Aus who some of you blokes wouldn't even know were on the planet. i know, i get surprised myself from time to time.
it's a big world outside of North America, folks.

If you throw out team frames and specialties like the TA24, GJS24, 26/24 OM ETC and go with straight rare production frame sets here is a quick list of some hard ones to find.

1. 1983 Race Tech frame. Fully adjustable cam headset / all alloy frame / only came in black. Less than 60 frames were ever produced and for less than one year. Absolutely one of the most beautiful frame's that you will ever see.
2. True first gen STR1 looped BB .... The search still continues....
3. TW racer which went up in smoke but did crossover into the early LRP era which is also very very rare.
4. 1983 Black chrome GT
5. Square tube slingshot
6. Any Nomura
7. K&S Racing built by champion / I only know of one to exist
8. Dale racing frame sets
9. Tuff Neck/Superbyke Chromoly Super Cheeta
10.Redline Monoshock only around 35 produced
11.R&R Squareback , Only two found
12. GJS Big tube
13. Factory gold looptail PK Ripper , Only 4 known survivors
14. Doug Schwerma Champion
15. Freshour / US or overseas but only about 20 US frames were ever built and only one Freshour is known to exist period.
16. Hyper built for the late Billy Ferell / Beautful twin downtube frame sets
17. Slingshot cruiser
18. 1st gen Round tube PK Ripper
14. JU-6
15. Aluminum Hutch
Ted Carl
S & S.

The guy built trailers as a business, and dabbled in bicycles. Quite a few were made, still never hear of anyone having one, barring a few rare mentions of them.

I know where there are 2 S&S cruisers though (original owners). The two 20's are gone though.
lamborghinikid
I also forgot to add the all elusive Pedals Ready GT !
leftybmxer

1983 jmc cruiser 1 of 6 painted in blue. 2 known to be left. this is mine
leftybmxer

nos cw phase1 frame.
QuicksilverBMX
Quicksilver Heliums are very rare as well as the cruisers 24 & 26"

Quicksilver mini's are also rare, there were only 50 of those made!
Volcano
What about a Shimano 5000?
I have one that picked up for a song! It also came with shimano 600 cranks.
There's a photo of it here:

http://oldschoolbmx.com/community/index.ph...wtopic=27000646

Also, to all the guys from USA, I have a 20" Huffy Pro Thunder (red frame) with "competition Certified" sticker in the gusset.
Are these frames rare?
IArider
What about RRS, or RRS cruiser?
Evan
Around 100 frames made, none have yet surfaced:

OLDSKOOLPK
Reilley1
Dennis Dain's original Peddlepower "Rink's Raider"

Only one know to exist

AAA Rascal Aluminium frame

Dave Clinton's Team Issue Kawasaki with faux shocks made by Curnell's grandfather

Rick Courteau's XL Webco

Rick Twomey's RBS specials

There are sa many one off's and small company bikes it's hard to say. Then yu get into the 30+ year olds making it even harder.

Back in the 80's I met one of the owners of Direct Link at a skatepark in PA. He was instructing at Woodward.

The Huffy Pro thunder was a cheaper model and like the one pictured. The Pro Lightning had teardrop style tubing and a tear drop seatpost. They were the top of the line. I would love to find one of those. Just for the weird factor. I'm sure they were all ridden, broken and junked as they were only Huffy's. If you go by the percentages, I'm sure there were thousands made and very few are still around which makes them a lot more rare than other bikes the guys have listed.
