1. 1983 Race Tech frame. Fully adjustable cam headset / all alloy frame / only came in black. Less than 60 frames were ever produced and for less than one year. Absolutely one of the most beautiful frame's that you will ever see.
Does anyone know any more about Race Tech frames? I used to have one when I was younger, and I've never seen another one anywhere. I THINK I know who still has it, too.
Thanks!

DT Racing products Squareback frame. I have the only one I have heard of that exists. Anyone else ever seen or heard of one?

I vaguely remember those, someone posted one a few years ago, if it wasn't you there's another one around. Just a vague memory but I think there might have been some connection to Samco which made some frames in the early 80s.

This is my first post, hello everyone.

This is my 1984 Redline 102b. 102b's are somewhat rare but that's obviously not what makes this particular frame so special. I've owned it since it was new so I know the color is factory. My parents owned a bmx shop at the time and the frame and forks came from SBS (Seattle Bike Supply). I raced it during the 1985 season then it was rarely ridden after that.

Wow, I have NEVER seen a 102b, 500a or 600a in that color. What is wild is that the white in the decals, it's not like they just painted some frames and slapped the existing stickers on there. That is one of the coolest things I have seen on VBMX.
Welcome to the site!

Randy, It was me that posted it a while back. Sandy Finkelman remembered them and was going nuts about how rare it was. He even wanted to act as a broker for me on the sale of it and didn't want me to put it on Ebay. I was really hoping someone else had the info on these since I just never really went through the deal with Sandy. It was one of those things that was talked about and then forgotten. Really makes you not want to take people for granted while they are around. Some people are such as wealth of information and great stories then before you know it they are gone.

That DT Racing frame looks a lot like a White Lightning frame (off shoot of R&R).
Main differece.... White Lightning had round seat stays and no brake bridge.
White Lightning was a very cool bike and is VERY RARE!
Greg Lilly was there sponsored Pro racer in 76' or 77'.
Collector John Dunphy has a chrome 1976 one with the decal on the top tube still in place.
Reilley1 has a slightly newer one 1977 that has a head tube gusset.

This is my first post so take it easy, A few months ago I ran into a guy that had a pk ripper that he said was a prototype that scott at SE gave him bitd. It had no finish on it still raw. One thing I found strange was it had a coaster brake hanger welded on it, most pk's I have seen do not, I am no expert that is why I turn to you. Was a coaster hanger common on these bikes? Didn't mean to jack this thread just thought it might be a rare bike, I going to look at it on tues.

No, none of the production SE bikes ever had a coaster brake tab. Get pics of this frame and post them. The one thing I've learned from SE/Race Inc is that anything is possible....

Thanks for the info brian, but I made a mistake it was a quad, I have seen it. The guy says scott told him it was a prototype. I will take pics of it this week the post them.
Thanks Jesse Strange thing though, why would a prototype have a serial #

non gusset

1 1/8 inch top and bottom tubing (instead of standard cook 1inch)

Right, I may be being thick here but what gold was this?? My ripper (which is now black) had a kind of gold anodizing finish under the old paint.....is this the gold you mean???
I also have a White Bear 24 & 20, a Peugeot/Vitus and a 2 Nishiki's - plus a load of rarer U.K stuff.
I'll dig out photos of the above.
Would like to know more about the gold ripper thing.
Cheers

OH, Wilko! That Littlejohn Murphy is AWSOME! That brings back memories. I haven't seen one of those in a long time. I do not remember seeing one in Reilleys collection, even. I will have to ask him about that.
Those are as "back to basic" as a Webco or Redline squareback.
That bike is just plain SWEET!

This is my Whitebear 24 (apologies for the very old photo)

My Peugeot/Vitus - unfortunately, the previous owner sawed off the top of the seat post. You can still just get a clamp on tho. That is a NOS Peugeot stickered one on the left.

A very rare, UK made Brian Curtis Freestyler - 1 of 2 I know of.

My NOS Nishiki, I also have a NOS red complete bike:

WhiteBear 20 - I bought these about 5/6 years ago and have never seen any others in the UK. Have never found out much about them actually. My 2 were repainted, I've no idea what they looked like originally.

Good call, those are very rare. Jeff is still on the hunt for the one with his initials as the serial number.
A REAL under the bottom bracket STR-1 would knock the collecting world on its ear. I think 5 were made.
My friend Mark had one of the few STR-1's, he got it from Blues Hills Bike and Hike then he sold it too a kid named Steve Mitchell....too bad because that would have fetched far more than the $2800 I got for my complete PR240. I had a prototype Hyper frame and fork that someone got from Grubbs or Baumert I traded a Zeronine that was stolen....that would be a nice one to have as well.

This is the first time I have seen another "round top tube PK" other than my own. According to Seth Buccieri, there was only 600 made. Below is a letter I still have, sent to me from SE Racing back in 79 when I asked about my "round top tube PK" and why I stopped getting my BMX Innovations.

Here's my "round top tube PK" as it looks today.

this is SUPER RARE!
i dont know how many were made exactly...but don't know of any others! this is a 82 Star Products frame & forks (designed by greg hill, probably made by VDC). this has been my bike since 83...i bought if from pro factory rider kevin mccarthy. greg & his father started this company (making STAR BARS) but made a couple frames for their riders. from my understanding...... greg couldn't put his name on the bike yet, he was still on GT. once he was off GT...STAR became GHP.
