Chevron Envy
A much easier explanation.......Good things come to good people. Congrats Bob!
BOB-O
how can you tell by the serial number if it is american made?
it starts with fs and the numbers.
ROBERTO
Cool score for sure!
BOB-O
i just found out it is american made...

Very nice indeed... As for the bars, they could just as easily be '85's as '86's post a pic from the front and we can tell. The design changed in '87 I believe so you might just be able to resticker them from a nos sticker and go. Correct me if I'm wrong guys, but I thought that the 84-85-86 were all the same material and bend angles...

Nice set. If only I loved the purple.

But I do love yours Chris. Need some gold pads?

ALL those were full chromo.

I believe the frame geometry was the same but the bars themselves were welded in many different configurations through those years. The downtube bends started in different spots and the gap between TT and DT also varied.

As for the American/Japanese thing...the serial # on the drop WITHOUT a baseball indicates US. WITH baseball or # on the BB makes it Japanese.

87's were very different obviously.

OH yeah, that thing is SWEET!

Oh, I just meant for the bars. I think that they were all the same for those years.
The frame head tube angles were different too but just as far as the bars go, were they the same for those years?
hutchheaven
Cool. So I guess you are the person telling Rollie the stories about the HUTCH grips . wink.gif
