i made a post earlier in the week on this topic, but here a some picture of the DG I spoke of....someone said they think it's just a Bob Hannah Motocross stick someone added....but it says DG on the sticker with Bob Hannah's name also......

Someone tell me what I've got here!

Thanks

Forks look like Speedos, and the frame looks like a mini. Very sweet bike!

speedos? what's the deal with speedo forks? never heard of them...
wagonguy
Speedo made dual dropout forks back in the 70's. Never saw them back in the day, but I've seen a few on this site. The 70's guys lust after them.

Hello –

By the HT decal it’s likely around 1980. It’s a full size frame and either a DG2 (Cromoly) or DG3 (Mild Steel). Only way to tell is weighing the frame. 4+ lbs for Cromoly, 5+ for mild steel.

Forks are Speedo or Diamond back knocks offs. Welds are too funky for Speedo. They did go to the effort of adding the proper DG fork decals on the legs.

The Hannah decal is a DG decal and was not part of the bike originally (that I ever saw). The parts look era correct and it was likely a shop build verse a kit bike.

Regardless, I always like the DG bikes!

thanks for the info Ben, is there any sure fire way to tell if the forks ARE Speedo? Also, is there anyway to tell anything based off the serial number? I thought MAYBE the frame was a junior size because it does appear a bit smaller next to my Free Agent...but the free agent is stretched a little and with the wheel mounted like it is, really shorten the bike alot....so your positive it's NOT a junior?..any other help is appreciated! thanks guys

Ben is THEE DG answer man on the site. He has tons of good info. Hopefully more guys from the Stone Age (70's) will chime in on your forks....Pliska? Reilley1? Sod?

Can we get a better shot of the forks?

Nice find.

more to follow..........
needmysquarebackback
okay
Reilley1
Not a Speedo fork and not a "junior" frame.
needmysquarebackback
any idea on the fork?

Forks are soem Taiwan thing. Speedo was gone 2 years before this bike. Other parts are era correct. The holes in the bottom of the legs, seagul poop welds and the holes in the dro outs are also signs of being SE of Russia.

Junior frames also had flat rear dropouts verse the formed ones on the full size frames.

great info...thanks Ben
