My Cheetah frame arrived last week, safe and sound-ish. For those who have not followed this story, after years of searching for one of these mid 70s frames, I finally snagged one on ebay a couple weeks ago. Funny thing - I think it's my original bike! I cannot be sure - it's the same color I painted mine, but I seem to recall these things were available in purple. No matter. It's going to be painted orange like my old bike. I still need a frame pad and a stem pad, but thanks to a few of you (notably Ben and Rod), this thing is coming together.
If anyone has any images of the frame stickers, you could become the heir to my fortune when my days on earth are over. Or, maybe I'll send you a nice card for the holidays., We'll see.

Here is the frame:

twin top tubes. It's really light, and could be mistaken for a Torker (well, that may be a stretch).

Oops. Well, you try finding a better one.

nice thin gauge steel...kinda gratuitus.

Here is a shot of the seat post tube, cut down for whatever reason (it probably cracked, like most)

...and here are the magic numbers:

Stay tuned - I'll be posting a lot more progress pics as it all comes together.

What type of stem pad do you need?
66alfa_gtv
I need a black double clamp stem pad. Here's where I get picky - it needs to be a real 1970s pad.
Monster-Robot
I think I have you covered. I'll take some pics this weekend and send to you.

In my world all tires, pads and grips are black.

NOS OK or does it need original '70s dirt? I think I have both. When did Rad Pads come out? I know I also have several of those but don't really know the intimate details. ;^)

Mr Robot -

Set Alfa up and I'll toss the Matthews bar pad in with your frame (that I'm boxing like a slug today).

Consider it done. I have one 4.5"x11" that I have owned since the mid '70s. Some rust on the snaps but I've had good luck with making a paste from oaxlic acid and then polish.

Alfa...pm me an address and I'll pop it to you.

Ben, at your convenience with the f/f. I've got way too much on my plate right now.

One on eBay now with almost all the og parts. Ending soon. They come up more often that I had originally thought.
66alfa_gtv
the frame just left portland yesterday afternoon. when it returns, it will be new again - proper length seat post tube, now bends in the tubes, and a bright shiny orange paint job.
If anyone out there has any images of the "competitor" frame sticker of the headtube cheetah cat face sticker, please let me know.

Mr. Roboto -

The pad and some grips are in with the F/F leaving FedEx today. Thanks again!

Alfa -

The orange is going to look great on this bike. I'm picking up your hoops and pedals on Wednesday.

Fantastic!
And, since you guys are doing everything for me, I have a ton of yardwork piling up. I'll expect all of you to be over sometime this saturday.
Monster-Robot
Thanks Ben! You rock...once again!

Alfa:
The pad is boxed up and waiting for UPS...they didn't come by this afternoon for some reason. If they don't pick it up in the morning I'll drop it off!

Good luck with this project...it's one of the cooler frames I've seen in a while and, if your other builds are any indication, I'm excited to see the end result!
66alfa_gtv
yeah yeah yeah - frame, pad...whatever.
We have moved on to my yardwork and all of your free labor.
I wait...patiently.

Just print the photo I posted, and use a little Elmer's glue to stick it on. Good to go. rolleyes.gif

Thanks Waza - great scan, but it is different than the one my bike used. Still, it could come in handy!
