Well, after throwing a bunch of blood clots in '05, breaking 3 vertebrae in '06, I figure for '07 I need to do something REALLY spectacular for my latest and greatest death defying act, so my son has convinced me to race with him next year.
I am hoping (and praying) I don't do a CashMatthewsatRock05. If you don't know what that is, well, it wasn't pretty.
Looks like I will be racing at Rye (NH) for the most part, though depending on my work schedule we are going to try to do the state series also.
I have a nice MCS 24 that I am going to be racing, though for laughs I might even race my 29" Redline Monocog just to see what I can do on it.
I've lost 30 pounds so far. Fear the flying fatman!!!

I came back in '03 after 20+ yrs off. Had a blast. Even went to Fl state championship in 35-39 cruiser. Bad foot led to surgery in early '06 put me out for the yr. Gonna think about coming back this yr. again. Just have fun and be safe! We don't bounce like we once did!! lol!

Did you guys race your old bikes from BITD, or did you buy new school stuff to race with. I'm itching to get back into it (after a 23 year layoff) but I'm on the fence as whether or not to race my restored OS racer, or just buy another beater to race with. Opinions?

Get a new(er) one. If you can't stand it, then rock out with your old one, but its value to you, coupled with the more mellow geometry and better parts of a new one, makes this an easy call.

I raced 3 old school bikes and 3 new school bikes for most of last season. I ran a different bike each moto most of the time. I got the same results racewise no matter what bike I was on. At the end of the season I tried sticking with one of my newer bikes(05 pk ripper, mostly stock with lil taller flybars) and had a few good races but realized it wasn't the bike. It was the rider. I think I'm going to narrow it down to my favorite old school bike(84 gt) and either my FMF or Pkripper for next season. I'll probably still run one of my old bikes with the tuff wheels just for fun though once in awhile.
