This is my first ever flatland post, so be easy on me. On Saturday night, a group of our BMX team riders had a cookout at the Bryson's. We were hosting a party for a local rider who wrecked her leg in a downhill accident. At any rate, her boyfriend is none other than Ruben Castillo of GT fame.

We went for a neighborhood ride, and this guy is totally a good guy. There is a little neighborhood track in the area and we all went down to ride for a while. Ruben amazed us with his skills. I am newly impressed!

So you were surprised that he was a "good" guy, Cash?

tsk, tsk...

Huh? I just never met a real flatland guy in person. My only real experience was on RAD where they did the freestyle dance thing. That sort of freaked me out back in the day.

Ruben was AMAZING on his bike. I don't know any of the names of the moves he had, but it was way cool. I may check into this forum more often!!

I was JUST teasing Cash...I know you are a GREAT guy. I met you last year right after your accident at the Rock - I was in the hospitality suite...

Yeah...those guys are amazing..look around this forum, there are some links to some amazing vids of what the flatland guys do nowadays...

Yeah, Reuben is a great guy. He started off as a flat kid and then branched off into street/ramps/dirt and back to flat. he's a good rider, no matter what he is doing.

Race/flat/ramps-it doesn't matter. A pro is a pro.

Ruben has been killing it forever.
He can ride a little bit of everything too.
The Gute still kills it too.
I've been riding with those guys since I moved to Austin in '92.
I'm Noodles, by the way.
Come down to 9th street sometime.
cruzertodd
Hey Noodles, does the Gute still have a vert ramp in his backyard?
D
Homeless 3 - Highway to Hell is one of my favorite vids of all time. Classic Austin scene. Ruben rides flat and street in that one.
Wheelie Nelson
Yeah, it's technically Patty's house but it's still there.
I've been trying to get ahold of him but his phone got shut off.
I want to ride it pretty badly since I've got the vert bug again.

I miss Austin so freakin' much. I lived there from the early 90's until this year; and came up with the Trend/Homeless/Club Homeboy scene and 9th street from day one. Ruben, Gut, Orneleas, Krakau were all rippers and now you have Chase Hawk, the T-1 guys, and a ton of other shredders.

I like Homeless/Clowns Full of Hate personally, but maybe that's because I have a couple of parts in it.

Carl who?
Are you the Carl that used to climb on everything?
Jason Barger (Bugger) is back in town.
cruzertodd
That's Carl SpLein Noodles. Hey Carl,"You got your quarters? I got my quarters".
