After staying at home for 2 years with the twins, I finally went back to work this summer. I got a job at a local day camp for boys 8-14. I am teaching BMX. I built dirt jumps all spring. When it rains I am teaching them flatland. Most of the kids have never even touched a BMX bike before and I even taught five kids how to ride a bike.

It's pretty awesome to get these kids involved and see their interest in bikes and BMX grow. I'm getting a lot of questions about prices and where to buy a bike.

Here's a shot of me doing a 360 taken by one of the campers.

Sorry to hear about your hard-drive... I just figured that all that attention from the campers had gone to your head and you didn't want to associate with us anymore......HAHA! Nice pic, how's that frame treatin' ya?

that is such a critical age for boys to get involved, to be excited about something other than getting into trouble. is this just a general camp or are they low-income or at-risk kids? if so, wouldn't it be sweet if someone could come up with some sponsorships to get those kids on bikes. i bet you are having a blast

Rob- The Sunday frame is everything I ever wanted in a frame. Great design and technology. rides like a dream. I'm finally happy after almost a year.

The camp is definitely not for troubled or underprivileged kids. The typical camper's dad is a doctor and the mom is a lawyer. Most of the kids seem to be raised like veal, locked in a room with TV or an xbox. There are a few good athletes but many of them have little experience in sports or physical activities.

The BMX program is cool because it is an alternative to team sports and far enough away from the mainstream that it is new and exciting to them. They keep asking me when they are allowed to catch air over the jumps like I am withholding a secret. I tell them it's really up to them when the actually leave the ground. I'll keep you posted.

Classic line. Working with the kids = good times.
