Yep, Nyquist won dirt!!!! Oh yeah. That man is stoke.. I knew he'd pull it off.. Now It's Mirra's turn to win Park today!!!!
buckchocolate
ummm. I thought Parslow was your man on dirt?
JIMBO420
Parslow was riding the new HARO "Forum" frame, looks I might have to look into one.
bmx-bandit
After Mirra wins park today,, i'll be 3 for 3.. Mirra will win tonight.. he is long over due...and he's stoke
bmxmom
anyone going to the pdx stop?
buckchocolate
woooo!!!...Garrett Reynolds 4th in street...15 years old!!!...guess my guy Cranmer didn't make the finals or my personal favorite Morgan Wade...OK u got me "Pipeline", lets DEW it again next stop!!!
JIMBO420
Whats up with Mirra crashing into the gates again. What a sweeeeeet run he had going.
bmx-bandit
I guess it's good to mix it up sometimes. But wow, this is getting rediculous. All the vets are getting beat this year, by these unknowns. I guess with all this money up for grabs, riders are really stepping it up.
JIMBO420
I think Mirra should have stuck to vert. I think he switched to park to get the "street" credibility for his new bike co. He might be trying a little too hard.
bmx-bandit
well with all these new guys, wanting that money, the comp is so tough. The vets are getting pushed out..
wds
Mirra's always run in both Park & Vert. Has nothing to do with "street cred". I'd think it may be more that he wants to stay uninjured for the X-Games. More visibility there, more potential free advertising for MirraCo.
Plus didn't someone say he took a bad slam in park? I thought that's why he opted out of vert. It's what I've read anyways...

I dont know if you go to any other BMX sites where kids that actually ride today post, but There is alot of Mirraco bashing going on.
Not necessarily Dave bashing, but bike co. bashing.
And what do most kids ride today? Street, not vert.Who is Dave trying to sell bikes too? Todays kids.
As far as more visibility for the x-games goes, the x-games are almost hated as much as Rick Thorne is in BMX.
No kid is going to want to ride a bike associated with the x-games, wal-mart has that segment covered already.
And the best free advertising is right here on internet forums, where kids talk bmx.
Thats why I said that he is looking for street cred.
The fall he took was 2 weeks ago at the first dew tour stop.
This is just the way I see it.

That's right: today's kids, not to today's riders. There's a subtle difference there. Dave is going into the complete bike market, he has to get to the same kids that are now buying Haro's, GT's, etc. The guys on BMXBoard, Bikeguide, etc talking trash are not the guys that'd buy a complete. The kids watching the X-Games are.
That's just how I see it.

Both Guettler and Mirra are sucking this year, so the x-games, the biggest show on earth, will be a time for them both to get back.. If they do well, sales will follow..
wds
Yeah I did notice that. Both of them are having a real rough start this contest season.
Guettler seemed really mentally shaken up by that crash of his earlier in the season.
I like seeing new, up and comers win anyways!

I agree with wds...the market for complete bikes is 'bout 8-12 (actually its their parents, most of whom have no clue how to build a bike but have the cash)...when my son first saw the X-games (1997? he was 8) and we had to get the Haro Dave Mirra signiture bike as well as all the LEE PIPES, Haro Uniform, Addidas Shoes and Fox Gloves...(by the way son is now 15 and still shredding) http://site.bmxair.com/modules/xcgal/thumb...s.php?album=113
the exposure for the X GAMES is huge, besides the DEW coverage for BMX is at Midnight...its still all about the X GAMES...thats still the Indy 500 of bmx freestyle
JIMBO420
Maybe you guys should take a look at what bikes they are selling.(Mirraco).
The product line goes from $200 completes to $1200 completes. And everything in between.

So I'm guessing that he wants to sell to a bigger market than just nOObs. The reason that I said he wants "street cred" is that if a kid gets laughed at riding his sparkling new Mirraco bike (this is where the bmxboard and bikeguide kids come in), he probably wont want another.
Now, if Mirraco has a bad @$$ street "team", with well known riders, that put out good dvd's of guys shredding on Mirraco bikes/products, the older kids(the ones with the $$$$$$$$) will buy parts and not be embarassed to run Mirraco.

BTW, this is not a Dave bashing, nothing but respect for the guy.
JIMBO420
BTW, did you guys see the "new" vert ramp for the x-games? SICK
JIMBO420
buckchocolate, is that your kid in the pics? If so, that kid is GNARLY
wds
The bottom line as I see it. MirraCo gets bashed no less than Haro, GT, etc. Any new rider who get crap for being on a MirraCo complete would get the same crap were he on a Haro, etc.
Besides it's a little early to judge, when the line has yet to be released - I've seen nothing more than a spec sheet & a few sneeks pics of the "Black Pearl"
Which by the way got just as much positive feedback off bikeguide as neg...

And that X-Games vert ramp! WTF?
I bet most BMXer will stick to a traditional run. I wager that it'll be mostly the skaters that make use of the rail & wedge.

weird thing about the STREET KIDS (age 15-25) today it is so much about "NON CONFORMING" and "INDIVIDUALALITY" that its totally UNCOOL to ride the same bike as someone else...but with the young kids its all about having the same stuff as everyone else...

yeah Jimbo thats my boy, thanks

YES that ramp is nuts!!!...will be interesting to see if anyone is game for the extras...

speaking of nuts, are y'all aware of the BMX BIG AIR comp at the x games this year maybe someone can post a link...what a ramp!!!
bmx-bandit
What about a new X-games ramp...>??>
All I know there is a high air comp on the big ramp this year. Pay per view.. OH man.. I can't wait.
JIMBO420
K.O.P. Look here for the ramp http://www.fatbmx.com/modules/news/

I just got back in to town and I wasn’t able to upload any pics from my hotel. Sorry guys. I will have to see what I can get up when I have time. Sadly I only was able to attend the street comp but it was super sick! Dhers killed it because “he put his mind on it” haha awesome! Nyquist was insane how smooth he is I thought for sure he had 1st. Mirra’s wreck off the stage was funny any you guys check his new ride? Holy candy apple red. It was cool to see DMC and Wade I was also bummed they didn’t make the finals. It’s good to see there is some serious cash to be made at this comp. I am thinking about flying down to Florida for the playstation pro anybody else going?
