Here is the situation. Mid 80's Dyno fork. Looking to purchase a new front brake. Will be using a hollow bolt w/a gyro. From my research (I'm a newbie), if I wanted to use a modern U brake and my fork does not have U brake mounts, I would need the U brake mount/adapter. Am I missing anything in this setup? Is this considered the ideal solution or should I just stick with a sidepull. Is using a U brake with a hollow bolt considered taboo? Is the U brake/hollow bolt combo considered better than a sidepull/hollow bolt combo? Suggestions?

http://www.vintagebmx.com/cgi-bin/ultimate...c;f=21;t=000073That's a thread where a lot of good front brake stuff was discussed.
I have a U Brake on an adapter plate on mine and it's working great. No routing it through the hollow bolt like BITD.

if you are trying to restore a bike to be era correct then go with a sidepull. just understand that there is a lot of flex with those style of brakes. personally, i would go with the u brake on front. they cant be beat. just make sure that your cable is short, and that you lube everything well.

$10, it comes with everything the plate and hardware. i got it for my 88 master daily rider. i put some diacompe 990's up front and i can run the hollow bolt feed just fine. its pretty much just like havin a fork with brake mounts. you should go with the u-brakes, the sidepulls are harder to dial in and have a tendency to come off center.
