Built her up last night, and added the SDG Freestyle seat, Shadow Conspiracy Interloc Chain, and Shadow Conspiracy Mean Pegs... and NO FRONT SUSPENSION!
What do you think?

Looks FUN... if you ever get a chance to come to Merryland, like say saturday... May 20th. There will be a session going on here in Frederick. The cruiser gang would LOVE to have another member.

Funny you should say that, Stang... here's a story for you guys.
I'm married with 2 kids, so it's hard for me to make time to get out and ride. I got my DK last week... one thing after an other, and until yesterday, I hadn't ridden. Here's the story:
THE WEEKEND comes, and it's Mother's Day Shopping, then the actual Mother's Day.
MONDAY comes around... RAIN. Monday night I'm suped... gameplan is to put the kids down, and head out. Kids knock out by 9... walk outside, and it starts pouring.
TUESDAY seems to be the one. Weather holds... kids knock out around 9... walk the dog... throw the bike in the car and head over to my spot.
Pull the bike out of the car. 15 feet away I hear a rythmic popping sound: pop... pop... pop... pop... pop... And I'm like "Now what?" My first thought was a broken spoke... would have sucked.
You know those clothing alarms that have the mechanism to one side and a button with a spike on the other? I had the button with the spike in my front tire... ALL THE WAY IN... and as I rolled, it would make a popping sound on the ground.
Needless to say, I returned to my car, went back home, and fixed my flat. The only good thing about it was that I got far enough to know I needed to cut my bars down, so I did that last night too.
Sorry for the long story... had to build up to the climax !!!

Okay.......So I finally picked up a 24" GL. After seeing all of the cruiser threads over the last few months I had to get one. LOL The 24 is so much nicer for long rides.

Mine:

I set it up like a big 20". Ditched the cruiser bars for some 8" rise Haro Nyquists. Added pegs all around. Added a 990 Front Brake.
I have since tacoed the rear wheel and laced a Sun BFR to the stock hub and spokes.

What's the advantage of using the 8" bars versus the cruiser bars?
I took my first spill on my 3rd ride last week. Found out the hard way that a rigid fork is nowhere near as forgiving than a suspension fork. Tried to bunny hop over a parking curb into a bank, and must have landed too low on the bank cause I hit front tire first on level ground and went straight over the bars. Ripped off my pinky nail and the bar tore up my right thigh as I flew over it. SUCKED.
Just got back from vacation so I'll go try it again this weekend! MUST DO IT...

I just like the way it feels better with the 8" bars. I feel hunched over with cruiser bars, like I'm riding a mountain bike. With it the way I've got it now, the proportions are like a 20", but bigger.

Sweet ride! It makes those pegs look tiny.
