ROBERTO
Hi guys!

Serva and I are putting together a BMX BBQ at my factory in Morningside, Brisbane and are looking for some feedback from those who would like to attend.

We're currently thinking Sunday the 12th of August and hope that would suit most peoples schedules.

The BBQ will most likely kick-off at 12:00pm in the factory carpark as it is the optimum time of the day for shade under the large carpark tree. This will be perfect for seating and there is plenty of room to put bikes on display.

It will also be a great opportunity for those wanting to trade spare parts (or bikes if you're feeling adventurous). There is also plenty of room to ride which I think is a bonus.

It would be great if everyone brought a bike or two (depending on logistics) to display at the BBQ as we often only see photos of eachothers bikes.

So let's get a list of names happening in this thread for anyone wishing to join in.

Also post some creative ideas that you may have for the day. Like bring you're favourite 80's tunes.

Roberto.

I think people should be encouraged to hunt out their girlfriends from the 80s and bring them along. Oh hang on, BMX and girls didn't really go together very well or was it just me?

Robert, I can't commit at the moment but will make an effort to see if I can pull it off. Of course if there were some framesets to pick up with fresh powdercoat then it would definitely be worthwhile.
waza007
cooool, i'll be there.
with at least one new project...
serva
Cool! Its on!

More details will follow!
COASTY
You betcha. I'll be there I hope. I may have a newbie to bring along too.
OldSkoolRoy
Count me in. I'll be there to ride ,display, swap and i'll even throw in a few stories for free. I'm glad it's at your factory. I'll probably leave a few things to get done too.
How about a bike build off. An old frame with the bearing cups in. 1 fork with crown race. 1 set of wheels with tyres on. Bars with grips. 1xhead set , 1xBB set. 1x1 peice cranks with sprocket on. 1 pair of pedals. 1 stem ,seat with seat pole. 1xSeat post clamp. 1xchain. Build it as quick as you can...
Jarvi
Or maybe a competition as to who can break apart and chain and paint the outer links white, put it back together, then put it in my bag...
NBKA-SENSEI
The Australian Rockford!
Cool......
I hope to vist there someday.
serva
Your welcome anytime N-S.... I'm not sure this gathering would compare to the Rock.....but good friends and bikes is all it takes.
AussieRampar
I'll be there but I'll be at Greazefest w/e before and nostalgia drags w/e after so I am bound to be rostered on. (I can swap from morning to arvo shift - or vice versa) so let me know what time.

-Pete.

(alot of my bikes are for sale) - The build-off StreatBeat (virtually unridden), JaG, Geese etc.

Serva,

I'll bring the Southern Cross F/S for you.

I think we should have a Moose off

(Mongoose that is)......

i can count about 10 in the south east QLD area that i know of.......... let alone our close friends interstate...........

Lets bring them and have a wheelie contest..........

All in favour say IIIIIIIIIII
ROBERTO
Richie ..... lol!

Pickles, sounds like a great idea, the most common bike that I paint is the old mongoose, there must be hundreds of them between us.
ROBERTO
Good to hear you're comming Adam.
COASTY
I'll have my digi cam corder and cameras for the guys that can't make it.
I haven't seen anyone since Jas' house so it'll be good to catch up.
Oh and I have 2 maybe 3 geese !!
84profile
I have been away and I have just seen this. I will be there with bells on!! (and maybe some streamers too ).

I have spoken to Leroy, he too will be making an appearence...Did some one say wheelie comp? I'll be down for that!!
OldSkoolRoy
Be good to see you again. You can borrow my moose for the wheelie comp! That was awesome that day at Botanical Gardens. You don't need a front Wheel!!

Be good to meet leroy and see his bike/s in person too.
MicOz
Hi guys keen as mustard....Can't wait.....cheers mic
ROBERTO
Better give Stu the trophy now for the wheelie comp! I don't think anyone stands a chance against this guy.
serva
I'll get it engraved tomorrow...
Jarvi
Yeah having ridden with Stu I think he probably only buys rear tyres as the fronts wouldn't get worn out.
84profile
ha ha...you guys would have pi$$ed yourselves a few weeks back, I was getting all confident, so popped a little mono after going through some damp grass, skimmed the back brake to keep the front wheel down...then wham! I was on my a*s as the rim was wet and my trusty 901's didn't grip the rim!

The important part was I keep the Kashimax off the pavement as I went down!
OldSkoolRoy
Hahaha...you saved the SEAT! Champion!!
leroy
I am in for this as well guys.... cant think of a better way to spend a day.

Stus da whellliiiieeee man.... no question.

I was there the other week when he saved a kashimax..... then I busted a dx pedal axel and went otb.... ouch.

Cheers to you Rob for settin a date ..... and getting us guys organised.
Jarvi
OK, flight is booked so I'll be there. Now to decide which bike(s) I will bring. Looking forward to catching up with my riding buddies and meeting those that I haven't met yet.
ROBERTO
O.K. Chaps! Here is the low down......

EVENT: This is a just a BMX BBQ held for the Oldschool BMX enthusiasts out there. Serva and I just wanted to get you off the computer and into a car park where there will be Bikes, Beers and Burgers. This is a great opportunity to show off your favourite builds.

THEME: This BBQ is what you guys make it, but we’re hoping to see plenty of 80’s flavour. So dust off your Vans and your old BMX t-shirts.

PLACE: 156 Riverside Place, Morningside ( south side Brisbane )

TIME: 12:00 pm Sharp! We mean SHARP !!!
There will be no cars brought into the factory car park, there is plenty of street side parking for everyone. People should rock up at 12:00 and start setting up their bikes for display. We have some bike racking for those who have none, let me know who needs some and I’ll hook you up.

We’re firing up the BBQ at 12:30 and will run it until everyone is full!

BRING: Oldschool Bikes and Bike Stands if you got them, Your own Deck Chair !!, Beers/Drinks, We’ll shout the Sausage Action, but you got to bring your own Steak, Prawns and Lobster!

ALSO BRING: All of you bike trash to trade, sell, swap as it may be someone elses treasure!!
If not, we have a large Cleanaway bin for the junk that you just can’t give away.

80’s music on Cassette or iPod or any Mp3 device only. All Music will be played through Pickles huge Old school (Sharp HK-9000) Ghetto Blaster.

I’ve got plenty of music to play, but I think you guys might get a bit sick of Belinda Carlisle, so see what you can find.

Oldschool Skateboards and Scooters are also welcome for display as there is plenty of room.

FUN COMPS:

The Mono comp - We got a large tarmac circuit for the Mono Kings to strut their stuff. We’re also looking for style here guys. Winners Prize - You may choose one item from the Cleanaway bin.

Bunny hop comp - We’re also setting up a Limbo stick for you guys to Jump, we’d like to see everyone have ago at this. The height rises with every lap and contestants are eliminated when they drop the stick. Winners Prize - Bragging Rights

Sprint comp - For those keen to show of your un-questionable racing talent!! Held on the large tarmac circuit that includes one high speed corner. First to the finish line wins.
Winners Prize - 6 pack of XXXX Bitter

IMPORTANT TO NOTE: Please note that this BBQ is restricted to the factory car park, we will provide bathroom facilities in the office.
but please NO LOITERING INSIDE THE FACTORY.

This is also a family event, so parents will need to be supervising the little ones as there will be many people riding around the car park and tarmac circuit. Riders keep an eye out for the little ones. There is a park next door by the river where Mums can take the little ones if they get restless.

No footballs or soccer balls to be kicked around the car park please, there are a lot valuable bikes on display.

We look forward to seeing you there!

Roberto and Serva.
Jarvi
Sounds great guys. I never get sick of listening to Belinda Carlisle although after seeing her in concert a few years back she has let herself go a bit, unlike any of us... Can't wait.
