Hi there, just wondering if anybody is in Japan? I seem to be the only loney member here. I know a few of you might have grown up here in your early days but was wondering if anybody is actually living here like me (work related), I would like to make some old school BMX friends and have a little show and shine this summer with some of my bikes and another local friend. PM or Email me, cheers !!!!!

Hello,

I'm a American living in Gunma ken Japan. Far away from the city in the mountains. I'm in the process of building my bike and it's still in the US. Do you know of any BMX shops that might have some nos stuff?

Take Care,

Scott

I hear it's nice down there. The wife and I were talking about taking a vacation down there. From what I hear it's kinda like a mini Hawaii.

Take care,

Scott

I am here in tokyo, for shop information, there is a shop in harajuku that has all kinds of old school stuff. The name is W-base, going in there is like visiting my childhood racing days. They also deal alot with bmx cruisers.

Wow, cool! There are a few people here in Japan. Too bad every body is so far away from me. I just noticed the other messages posted earlier this month. The show we were going to have never happened cause of lack of interest. Maybe something later on. I am located in Nagoya (Central Japan) which is home of Toyota motors. I would still like to organize some kind of event later on again in the very near future. Cheers

i'm no longer there, however, you won't be hard pressed to make good friends with the Japanese BMXers over there. i'm not sure if you're looking for racing or more into the freestyle end of things, but all you have to do is google Japanese BMX and you get a lot of hits.

when i lived there, i put on the end of summer jam way up north in Tohuku province. Misawa Air Base to be exact. 10 years later, it's bloomed into a very nice jam that they continue. here's a link to my friend's website:

again, Seiyo and the crew up there are awesome!!! there is a pretty rad MTB rider named Gaman, who also tears it up on the Snowscoot. if you do any snowboarding, hit up Hakkodda Ski Resort this winter! awesome backcountry snowboard/skiing.

i'm jealous, because i've grew to love Japan and i sure do miss it over there! drink a georgia coffee and eat some Co-co's curry for me!

Hello,

Who would have thought there was so much Old School BMX here. I went to the W base website and it looks pretty cool. I really want to check that place out. It's fall and it getting pretty cold in the mountains I'm starting to see warm Georgia coffee in the vending machines! Yeah. Co-co is cool. The spiciest curry I could handle from Co-co is number 5.

Jamie,

The wife got hooked on some Nagoya Miso Katsu. Man that stuff is pretty good. There's a place in the Nagoya station (In the underground mall next to the station.) that makes some good Katsu. All I remember is it way on the other side of the mall from the station next to the restrooms. There sign has a pig wearing a appron. When we were there the line must have been at least 50 people deep. Don't worry about the line because it goes pretty fast.

Cool. Thanks for the info. I'll try to find a some of these places.

Take Care,

Scott

I had to go to Tokyo yeasterday and went by that W Base shop. It's pretty cool. They had some nice stuff. Unfortunately they didn't have anythng I wanted for sale. They had a couple of parts I wanted, but they were display only items.

Kanedog:
Thanks! Yes Nagoya's famous foods are Miso Katsu and more like Kishimen, Miso-Nikomi Udon and also Tebasaki (Nagoya style Chicken wings) One of the best places to hang out would be an Izakaya or a Japanese pub. Lots of fun, friendly and very loud staff who yello at you when you come in and cheap beer...a;ways look for those red paper lanterns hanging outside. Those are the places to go

BMX Mom
How's it going? Hisashiburi!! Genki kai?

All others
Most collectors never sell, I know of two shops and they have amazing things but not for sale and is actually clearly written in Japanese and English "Display Only!!". I have only scored once in Japan in my 10 years here.

If anybody gets close to the Nagoya area and even better on a weekend, please give me a PM or Email. Cheers
