Hi,
I have been a member for a while here, I don't get a great deal of time to log on, due to work, the wife, kids etc ! LOL !! and bike bike building/Veteran BMX races

I've just build 4 Old School rides, and have 3 more on the 'go'...but who else is living or lived in the UK on here ??
Lets see ya
Matt
Hup
I was born and raised in London. I first started riding back in the 80's. Took a 15 year break and got back into it the last few years. I have been living in the states now for almost 13 years.

I built up a RL-20ii and then sold it. I decided that I prefer riding to collecting. So I have couple of new school rides now.

Do you still ride? Did you ever ride at Rom?

Not sure if you are aware of it but www.radbmx.co.uk is a great site for UK old school BMX.
monkeybiscuits
Hi mate,
yep ROM was the place to be, I'm from Essex (Southend), so used to get my bikes etc frm Rad City !
Do a bit of veteran racing, but not alot of freestyle, yep, am a member of RADBMX, which is a great site !
Matt
kirky
Hi from Southampton picked up my bike from a dump a couple of days ago I'm led to believe it's a 1986 Skyway, needs alot of work but look forward to gettinhg up and running haven't ridden in twenty two years LOL

monkeybiscuits

don't see anything down my local, as they sell em to a local dealer I think ???
WeeksyRipper
Hi dudes,

Happy New Year to you all

I am from the UK, and still reside here too.
Like Monkeybiscuits , I am an Essex boy, hailing from South Woodham Ferrers, land of the then famous Woodham Warriors BMX Club. Andy Ruffell used to live next door to me BITD, and was responsible for getting me into bikes at the age of 10 I think...

I have now started up the club again (committee only so far) , and we hope to have secured this once legendary site from becoming a car park for a leisure complex. It's pretty overgrown, since it was vandalised and left in 92, however a group of 10 or so of us go down there each Sat, and have made a massive difference - still a little way to go tho. The Council have seen our efforts, and taken note that BMX is there, and growing, so we should be able to save it, unlike so many others that weren't so lucky sad.gif

Do you lads remember the track from back in the day?

I now ride an 06 Ripper with and OS flavour, and as many OS parts as I can use. Always been a massive SE fan, had quads and Ripper's BITD (why did I ever sell them?!) Am thinking of building an OS baby, but being a fussy git, that's going to cost some real dough!

All the best for 2008

Hi all,

I'm a UK member too, based in London.

Raced as a teenager in the northeast of England ('82-'84) but grew up as a child in US eastern seaboard, which is where I first got into bmx in '79 before coming back to UK.

First bmx was a CYC Stormer MX with blue tuff 1's/ bendix '76 coaster from Everybodies Cycles. Great stuff. Worst welding I've ever seen. After that Race Inc Ali (anodised gold), Tracker (front end collapsed after a bad landing) and finally the legendary PK Ripper - which was my UK race bike.

Anyone here from Massachusetts who remembers Everybodies Cycles?

Bob was a great guy who used to MC the races they had in the small track behind the shop.
2elliot
Jonnieboy, you should have stopped Up North mate, it's full of Southerners on here wink.gif biggrin.gif
johnnieboy
Elliot,

It's ok, been down here for nearly two decades.

Not sure our US friends will understand though.

- It was only a problem during the recession, what with Harry Enfield, Mrs T and the great YTS swindle. biggrin.gif

Im from Leicestershire, been on here for years. not fond of the UK site as its full of muppets. no offence to the pioneers from the UK, you know who you are.

Alan Humphrey. Didn't race bitd as I was too busy destroying cars on the stock car circuits but wished I had. Have two sons, Matt & James, who got into racing at Braintree BMX Club about nine years ago and who still race now. I got the bug when we held Dads races at Braintree and have been racing/riding ever since. Get a great buzz from racing but accept that I'm really far too old to push myself to be competitive. Got a '91 Redline Anniversary Edition ride that I take out in the Old School events from time to time but also have a NuSkool 20" DK, Felt cruiser and a WeThePeople cruiser too. Just love the UK racing scene (but don't do Nationals - that will be my epitaph!!) and am involved with East Kent BMX Club based at the new track in Herne Bay. Not a regular on here but am well known on RAD and BMX Talk, maybe infamous!! wink.gif Humps

OK. Heres a question for the rest of you uk'ers.

Is there a place on the net that lists all the bmx tracks in the uk?

Closest to me is Manchester or Crewe. Tracks look very good. Can't wait to try them out.
Thing is, I've got both my lads into the whole bmx thang, and we want to join a club.

Shall we start a list of all tracks / clubs?

Maybe we can arrange a meet up some time.

Mate, get on Radbmx and have a look in the oldschool racing section. We race once a month in the North, you have just missed the Preston meeting which was on Sunday, last. I think the next meeting is at Lytham next month, it's a good laugh and you don't have to race, you can just take in the atmosphere and have a chin wag.

It's good stuff.
