Ok, where to begin..
Well the nov 7th school tragedy was a shock to all of us more less as a nation. Nobody would have EVER thought it would happen here. See here people have license for gun if it's either for hunting or for sporting purposes like target practise etc. We don't carry guns for self defense either and you're definitely not supposed to go about and shoot people as soon as you get the license! So that incident was very unfortunate and the conversation will continue that's for sure.
On the bright side, the life goes on.
Last week's Twisted Sister gig was AWESOME!! Afterall i was huge TS fan in mid-80s but they never came to play in Helsinki back then. Therefore this was very special event for me. Afterall, you could say i had been waiting this gig for the past 20 years and it was worth it! The event started at 8PM, the warm up band was a swedish band called Hardcore Superstar which, i had never heard of before. They played about an hour, until Twisted Sister stepped on stage with HUGE cheers, afterall it was the band everyone was waiting for to see. It felt unreal to see your idols from yout in front of you just some ten feet away, live. I was overwhelmed. They played total 16 songs from their albums "Under the blade", "Stay Hungry" and "Come out and play" includign one from their xmas album from year ago, here's the songs:
What You Don't Know Sure Can Hurt You
The Kids Are Back
Stay Hungry
The Beast
We're Gonna Make It
You Can't Stop Rock'n'Roll
The Fire Still Burns
We're Not Gonna Take It
I Saw Mommy Blowing Santa Claus
I Believe In Rock'n'Roll
Under The Blade
The Price
Burn In Hell
AJ's Drum Solo
I Wanna Rock
---
encore
Come Out And Play
SMFThey dedicated the song "The Price" to the victims of the shootings and i literally had a tear in my eye, i'm sure many other people too we're touched. And the song itself is still amazing, ok so it's an 80s metal ballad but it works. I remember that was one of the rarely played music videos on TV (Music Box/Sky Channel) but when it played it was so cool. Ofcourse their biggest hits are still "I wanna rock" and "We're not gonna take it" which they played in the middle of the set and they joked about it like
"you don't play your big hits in the middle of a set, you save those for the last, but those who came in tonight to hear just the big hits can now go home, but those who came to see TWISTED SISTER can stay" ..or something like that. It was funny.
A.J. Pero's drum solo was really something! I don't know much/anything about playing drums but he was a pro. And it was set up really cool with spolights flashing while the double kick drums we're rocking the arena. The music was loud thorughout the gig so earplugs were really handy. You really can't go without them. I felt sorry for those that didn't wear them.
So this was first heavy metal concert since 1986 when i went to see Dio and Bon Jovi no less than at the same place the one and only, original Helsinki hockey arena. Back then i was just kid, what was i.. 13? I was so young. The TS gig was my birthday present from Kati. Although it was my idea, and i was the one who wanted to go there, but still

Couldn't have wished for any better however the best present there is is that my Mother is doing great after the surgery/treatments she's been going thru this year. I don't want go deeper in that subject, but let's say the year has been rough for all of us.
The Twisted Sister gig was truly one of those "once in a life time" things to experience. I don't know about you guys, maybe you see these kind of bands every month but to us and for me this was something very special . But if they ever come back here on a gig again, i'm there! Twisted Sister still RULES!!!
Here's a few photos of them (not mine, but from an article at one of the local websites)

Oh what the heck.. here's yours truly 20 years ago in a full mask. I told ya, i was HUGE FAN and when say i was a huge fan, i mean it. Every word. lol!

Thank you so much for the b-day greets! I can't thank you enough. I am not much of a fan of huge birthday parties with loads of people around and stuff, i like more spending the day with the family and wife, maybe see a few friends etc. Here's how my day's been:
Kati made me a chocolate cake, she's so sweet and nice. Sweeter than the cake. It even had the "34" on it! How cool is that!! Now i'm getting all emotional.

Ok. Then we had the plumber to come by cause our kitchen sink drain was stuffed. Atleast THAT was a different birthday present plus the plumber was a really cool guy! We helped him in whatever we could. Atleast the closets are now re-organised cause we had to empy it completelty. The guy had a cool machine with him, too bad i didn't take a photo of it.
Then we decided to go at the shack, cause the ground was dry, for a change, and it was whopping +5 degrees can you imagine THAT? Not exactly summer temperature but bearable. AND you got to pedal while you can, it will be freezing again tomorrow and who knows when the real snow fall comes. The sidewalks are filled with sand already, cause there's been couple freezing nights and everything has turned into ice. Only to melt away the next day. Sucks.
So we went to the shack and had a cup of, what else than HOT CHOCOLATE!
I had my old skateboard with me i found from my folk's basement last time we visited them so i decided to take few photos of it sort of document it. But It's not just any old board but one of those we made with my Dad, some 21 years ago and where else than, at the shack. I should've had this board with me at the Twisted Sister concert:

..and here's why:

Anyway, we finished the hot chocolate and experienced some wildlife next. A black bird had came inside the shack from somewhere. It was sitting on top of the beams like it lived there. So we opened the doors to the balcony/terrace and tried to get it fly outside cause we didn't know whether it would've found its way out or not (probly would have). Ofcourse the dumb bird didn't realize we were only trying to help it and not catch it and eat it, so it flew around hysterically and ultimately crashed into one of the windows, fortunately the crash was wasn't too bad. I felt bad for it. But it shook its head and sat there for few seconds and then just like that, it figured out where the door was and just flew away. Mission accomplished.
Back to the board. Here's more:

We used to mount a hockey puck on the tail back then to act as a tail-bone or skidplate or whatever you like to call it. It even had the vintage Ghostbuster sticker still on it! I always thought it was the coolest figure back then. I remember i used to draw that sign a lot.

On the nose, there was still the old Anthrax sticker aswell.

Goofin around with the camera.
