Thanks Mick, cheers.
Hey, what's the story with upload limits? I wanted to post some more pics of the PK but it is say that there's only 10k of space left. All the pics I went to upload where under a 100k.
What gives ???

Hey Gnarley - 500k limit is all you're allocated through the VBMX server.
Try (if you have the program) using "save for web" in Photoshop. It drops file size heaps and don't lose that much quality.
Alternatively, go to Photobucket and set up an account if you want - I think it's free?
Also, you can delete your past attachments to gain back some upload space.
That's what I've done in the past.
Hope this helps...

Heres a pic of my sons Newer Aussie bike. The Vortex Mini.

hey coasty,
i got the same padset as the one on your sons vortex mini except in white. stoked to see another pair.
attached is a pic of my aussie made frame. most of you guys wont know what this is but its the only prody productions flatland frame built.
back in the early ninties clint millar and mchael canfield got GJ cycles at capalaba to make a ramp street frame called the prody "gee" (as in prodigy - get it?). clint millar (now the owner of bike company colony bmx) had a crew going called prody and he made a whole bunch of bike vids in the 90's.
anyways, about 5 months after clint and mc got their frames done i got the prody "junior" made up as my own signature frame. that was about 1993. it was tough as nails. only 4 prody's were ever made. the other one was made for some rich kid who apparently wrapped his jaguar around a telephone pole. his prody was on the bike rack and came out sweet - no dings or twists. the jag was a write off. like i said tough as nails.
bit of mid school freestyle trivia for ya.

I have another mini f/f (Vortex) but it's an earlier version. What have you got the Pads on?

unfortunately the pads aren't on anything. i had them on my maxxim in 1990. always hated the pad set and for some reason i still got that and my beyond number plate. maybe a crisp plate that butch broomfield gave me too ....lol
unfortunately im just getting into my building up bikes but i would love to have an old maxxim or crisp

No crossriders yet? I'm disappointed.
Time to post some Cobra Stuff.
Toowoomba Bicycle company made nasty Goose copies with the following decals;

But team riders rode Japanese made frames like this (front triangle is identical to early DB Snake);

I had one of those "nasty goose copies" that cracked in the seat stay gusset and the Cobra boys replaced it with one of those team ones just like in the pic above. Great customer service. I had several other Aussie BMX bikes back in the day - Madison, SuperMax ... I'll have to search for some pics.

I always found this Ad interesting , perhaps it is from the crossrider factory ???? I never saw any of these early knockoffs in the bike shop , they must still be a few of these errrr replica's around here somewhere.....early 1980's Tuf Moves ad.

Replica? OOOOOkay
What the hell Mangaloy? Should it be Mango-alloy, is it the post weld heat treating process using Mango juice? Man BITD you guys from down under were cutting edge
No Reilley1, I did not say Bango, ......M-A-N-G-O. Let's not start that again.
Kurt.
Jan 4 2008, 01:02 PM
Hey Cheez,
Mangaloy was manganese-molybdenum tubing made by Tange. Stronger than Hi-Tensile steel but not as strong as Cr-Mo.
I've never seen one of these frames. They seem to have been a very small operation.
There were a lot of frames manufactured Downunder in the early 80's "inspired by"

US frames, because US frames were hugely expensive here (compared to what you'd pay in the US) - mainly because of protectionism (read heavy taxes on imported goods) by the then Australian Government.
There were plenty of unique and innovative Aussie BMX designs too - ever seen a Quicksilver Helium?
Cheers Kurt

For one, look for the topic below this actually means aus built bikes but anyway.
It's a 2000 give or take couple years, supergoose, sgx or maybe californian personally I don't believe it's worth doing anything with, just cheap bikes, and fair old for what it is, maybe try flog the frame for 20-30 on ebay and put it towards something worthwhile.
I had a quick google to confirm and heres a site selling some, otherwise fair common on ebay.

I don't think there was much behind the serials on those, and yeah it is different those are all alloy versions for one, but as i said it from that range most likely give or take couple years, they had a few variations on that basic shape, there might have been a slightly lower level one from the range not pictured, there was even 16" and 24" versions but yeah, but thats roughly what your dealing, with but as i said, don't worry about it, unless there's sentimental value, they weren't popular and were fair cheap looking, and are still cheap, so i wouldn't even worry about which one exactly...

...Wading in (about 2 years too late..) I remember seeing & loving Super L.A.'s, Quiksilvers, Crisp's & TAJG's BITD. Someone mentioned a bike shop near Woodridge Station - I believe that was Bicycle Specialists - my Mecca. I used to buy most of my parts from there. They once had a factory built Diamond Back Turbo on the counter. Crazy thinkg is I still remember the price tag - $580 - way out of my reach. The bike shop in Springwood was also another great place to get stuff.. The track behind Laurie Laurences changed my life. I used to go there after swimming lessons & watch 'em race. Very tight, difficult track & they played Queen's "another one bites the dust" over & over & over - what a buzz..
One Aussie BMX I didn't see mentioned, & was my first, was Cyclops. Mine had a gusset like a Redline squareback & built in seatclamp. I had my dad remove it so I could put a "proper" clamp on it. Still, fun or not, most of the cheaper stuff was rubbish - high tensile just doesn't cut it on the track..
Enough already, just had to get that off my chest..

LOL...vanspacman! I have a cyclops from waaay back.
Really heavy...actually maybe it's lead filled cause it weighs a tonne!
Got it from Vinnies BITD. It had a tuff 1 up front and an Araya laced with yellow coated spokes, on the rear.
Hard to jump cause it handled like a dog's breakfast AND the rear wheel was warpped!
Ahhh those were the days.
Might dig it out and take some pics.

Does anyone remember a little known Australian frame manufacturer (From Queensland I think) called TAJG? I think thats the correct spelling.
I remember when I worked at Glenroy Cycles (Melbourne) in the very early 90's, My boss Tony Buckingham had a TAJG mini that he was doing up for his son. I remember it was hot pink in some sections and bare metal in others.
If anyone has info or pics on TAJG bikes then I would love to see them.
Thanks.

Sad TAJG story: Young Kiwi boy moves to Brissie circa '88 has a ball during World Expo, decides to get some wheels to get around town as he lives nice and handy in Highgate Hill. Remebers Todd Selby(sponsered by AIR NZ!!) a few years earlier rode a weird(his set up was weird) looking bike called TAJG in NZ but absolutley flew on it. So catches the train out to Woodridge and orders a custom geometry and painted(red, white & blue) frame with all GT(as bling as I could afford) parts. Would catch train every week after nightshift to pay the man as she was a nice total of about $1000.00 at the time. With help from my sponser Dad I finally got the best bike I had eveer had. Two years passed and I hadn't even ridden a track on it, then homesickness set in I was off and had a great night on my last night but forgot to pack my bike. Leaving it in the trusty(more like dodgy) hands of my flatmate to send it back for me. Oh well we all know what happened(or didn't) and someone got a very nice custom bike for free!!
Moral of the story: Don't always put beer & women before bikes!!
If anyone in Brisbane came across this(don't know serial #) let me know.

Hey Kurt
Ill send some pics tonight.
Death Sauce eh. I decided to wipe the bottle clean under the tapin the sink. I then washed my hands clean with soap and scrubbed them. Later that night I was watching tv and wiped some eye snot away from my eye. Within a flash I was screaming in pain, couldnt open my eye and ran to the bathroom. After 10 minutes flushing my eye out using water and a shot glass I started to worry and rang Nurse On Line. Luckily at the 2 minute mark all the pain went away and I got my vision back.
I washed and scrubbed my hands twice more with hot water and rubbed them dry with some paper towelling and relaxed.
Just before bed I went to the dunny. Guess What?????
May your camel catch a thousand fleas you nasty nasty man Kurt.
No havent tried to tast it yet but I have this friend......
Kurt.
May 31 2008, 04:48 PM
LOL John. I believe I did say "make sure you wear gloves". I wasn't joking. An evil, evil substance - and not nearly the hottest in their range any more... The Mega-Death sauce you have there has a rating of 550,000 scovilles. Their make-you-bleed-out-your-butt-and-gasp-for-mercy limited edition sauces have scoville ratings in the millions and come in a pre-melted bottle and you have to sign a waiver to get them. They sell out within a couple of hours of release and if you can get a bottle for $300 US you've done well...
The Master-Sports just looks like a Repco with different stickers to me. I think the frame on its own is a Crossrider II - Where's Christian - he knows his Crossriders.
Anyway - here's you pics...

Here'a what I've got. I thought one of Reece'a mates had one the same with original Repco Stickers, but I may have been mistaken.
I've got a sheet of those "Master Sports" stickers that I found years ago; what type of bikes did they used to make (I was going to use them on a chopper/low rider type frame)?
