Does anyone remember a little known Australian frame manufacturer (From Queensland I think) called TAJG? I think thats the correct spelling.
I remember when I worked at Glenroy Cycles (Melbourne) in the very early 90's, My boss Tony Buckingham had a TAJG mini that he was doing up for his son. I remember it was hot pink in some sections and bare metal in others.
If anyone has info or pics on TAJG bikes then I would love to see them.
Thanks.

sorry revcore - no recollection of that brand....
Here is my latest bike, a Maxxim 24". Wheels were the dearest part, $30 for the spokes! It's way shorter TT than my GT, but still a cool thing to ride.

p.s thanks Serva and Lewis for some of the bits used.

Looks good Mark. I've always liked the look of the silver rims and coloured hubs or vica versa. What's the deal with the stem though? MX2?

Seriously, until a week ago that pad was the only place I had ever seen the word TAJG.

If Jas see's this he'll be able to fill you in properly....but he told me a bit....TAJG were the first letters in the first names of the for blokes that were involved in TAJG.
(ie; Terry, Alan ,John ,Gary....something like that)
They were based in springwood - underwood - woodridge area of Queensland. I remember all the fuss that came with the new TAJG bikes when they came to race. The uniforms looked good too. I haven't seen one of those bikes for years

I don't remember what the TAJG race team uniforms looked like or what most of the bikes looked like. The only TAJG I've ever seen was a mini frame & forks that was being stripped back to bare metal.... It was originally hot pink without stickers. Did TAJG make pro, XL and cruiser frames sets?

Hey Guys,
TAJG = Terry And Jan Griffith. Terry used to be partners with Laury Lawrence in the Springwood BMX track behind Lauries pool. (yes the Laury Lawrence of swimming fame). Terry and Jan lived around the corner from me in Rochedale. Jan is Lauries sister. Graham Stevens (SLA) made the CrMo frames for Terry. So, they are just like a Crisp, Maxim, SLA crmo etc. Only subtle differences if any. Terry used to own a bike shop close to the Woodridge Railway Station. I think the first uniforms were white with a bit of red. Not sure. He probably started TAJG in around '83.
Hope this helps!
P.S. The Street Beat Shootout Semi Final is almost over, please vote if you haven't. It's in the freestyle forum.

Thanks Guys! Would you believe that info came straight out of my head! Yet somedays I forget my name........
Picklediddy mentioned an OSBMX get together soon at the Gap. Has anyone set a date yet? I'm really keen to catch up with everyone and go for a ride. I haven't seriously ridden a 20" for about 10 years, but I'm keen to dust off the T/A!

Hi everyone a rare appearance for me here.
Meatpie the DB in BMX bandits is an 82 DB TEAM PRO . A senior pro size frame, the decals on that model are prism backing with white lettering blue borders ,blue diamonds. Of which Frazer and I are jointly producing, more frazer than me tho. all I have done is scans and will be helping fund the run.
I know it seems strange that the DB in the movie had the blue decals and red components but if you want to build the replica thats it. nice job on the supermax too and the DB looks good.
One of you guys bought the full set of mint DB radpads in red off me last year.

Its a younger but bigger cousin to my 20 inch BBR
Those double downtubes are a real challenge to make them show up in a complete photo of the bike , eh ?

Since I can't pull off a table top as easily as I used to , I'll have to figure a better way to get the whole bike & its highlights into one good picture , great looking bike , but from experience they are absolute SOB's to get a _really_ good looking photograph of them....
Still cleaning up + adding bits to mine & waiting for Ted Carls old school campy graphite hub flanges to arrive.

I want a supermax or sting cromo, now I have seen all these examples recently. Micoz where did you locate the stickers from? Surely that was a challenge.
It was my first real bmx bike after my dragstar! If anyone has one they want to sell let me know. pls. Cheers Stu

Does anyone have scan of the ad of the Supermax Cromo (which was identical to my sting cromo just different stickers) that I believe (from a rather hazy 36 year old memory), was on the inside front cover of BMX Pancake bitd?
I have decided, after seeing the above bikes, I want to replicate my first bike and that ad would be a great starting point, as I'm just working of my memory to what parts were on it!
I think that it comprised of the following parts but please correct me if I'm wrong:
Frame: Supermax Cromo
Forks: Tange Trx
Handlebars: Generic Alloy
Headset: MX 2
Brakes: Shimano Tourney's
Grips: Foam
Stem: MX-2
Tires: Comp III
Rims: Araya 7X
Spokes: Chrome
Hubs: Shimano Low Flange
Seat Clamp: Tange
Seat Pole: Fluted Alloy
Seat: Kashimax MX
Chain: Generic
Pads: Handlebar and Frame - Nylon
Cranks: Takagi 1 Piece
Spider: Steel
Chain Ring: Alloy (pretty cool chain guard... well as cool as a chain could get!
Pedals: KKT Lightening
Cheers Stu

The alloy bars that came on the Supermax Cromo, Weren't they WIN or ALPS brand? It's been so many years since I last had my Supermax Cromo so there is a very good chance I could be wrong.

Hey thanks mate - that looks familiar, but I don't think that's quite it - I don't remember gussets like that on the frame - mind you 25 years plays tricks with memories....
The oldskoolbmx website has a couple of earlier Madisons with integral seat post clamps (not like yours), but I definitely fitted mine with a suntour clamp.
I'm sorely tempted to buy an Aussie bike to restore, but think my wife may well chase me around the house with something sharp - I already cop a bagging for my "collection" of frames...
