G'day Guys,
Roy, I'm very sorry to hear about your mum's stroke. Please hang in there, I'm sure you'll do just fine. Don't you just love the curve balls of life. NOT. I'll speak to you soon mate.
MB & JB I have replaced my seat on my Repco monoshock (the pic MB posted) with a better one. I still have the rusty one here and I may even have spare seat posts for it. LMK, there yours if you want them.
Glenn, I'm 99% sure I have a set of forks for you mono also. Let me check and I'll contact you.
Pete, I've taken some of your 2nd Gathering info and put it on the site for an update this weekend.
LMK an address etc when you can.
Cheers!

That'd be cool Gary. Thanks. If JB and MB don't want the seat, I'll grab that too. Save me finding the right one. I am using a normal seat at the moment.
Well today I got bored and made my boy<Toby, a new jump. I couldn't let him go on using the bricks and scrap timber any more. I think he's gonna be like his dad when he gets older. he needs to get more speed up but can't due to the lack of runup area we have.
He loves it anyway. Bare feet and all !!
Cheers all.

The second BMX I ever saw was a Madison. Don't know the model but it was grey and had realy low bars like a cruiser has. How things survive this long is amazing. Thank goodness for people who keep things.
Glenn, build him a roll-in ramp and that way you don't need the distance to build up speed. I built a ramp like that when I got my new school bike because it is so heavy and I wanted to get more than a couple of inches of air. Didn't help as i realised it was skill related not bike related problems.

Our monoshock bike will be far from an original restoration , , as long as the frame & forks all clean up nice & we can get the basic frame shock & front triple tree setup working nice
they will probably be the only original parts on it.
Still looking for some front + rear mudguards & figuring a way mount a 990plate & brakes setup for the rear.
The swept back handlebars will be getting replaced with something with a lot less sweep & a bit more rise , the seat will be either a springer style or a boxy MX style seat held up by a sissy bar or something.
No real rules on this build , other than to have a fun , comfortable , freewheel monoshock suspension bike to ride on.
What year were the Repco bikes originally made/released ? Best I remember is they were very new around the mid to late 1970's here.

I had repco monoshock catalogs/paperwork dated as 1975/76 if that helps...
P.S They're still an awesome ride today, bouncy and comfy is good ;-)

Hey Johnny Chop - that bottom black one was exactly the same as my old one, had the gold madison stickers like the taipan. Great bike.
Do you plan to build those or sell JC?

Sure it has elf stickers but is it an elf? Seems well made and all but just not sure what it is.

Hey Dirtboy,
Strange frame - are they lugged or machined?
The dropouts certainly look like ELF, but I've never seen one with tubing/joints like that...

Not my bikes Matt - found in various places on VBMX when researching my ELF cruiser bars.
Looks like Hotfoot 24s are coming out all over too.

Wow Marty nice one mate! Can I have some pics for my site?
MB - I dunno what your bro's on either! hehehe. Why **** with 990 mounts on a Repco Mono Shock, go full old skool and adapt a disc and caliper from a Flying Wedge or Speedwell Fury! No prob the seat is yours and I found the posts too. Just drop me an email.
Glenn - I found you two complete fork legs and a top and bottom triple tree setup. Only missing a few bolts and washers etc. The forks are frozen but I'll spray some Inox down 'em tomorrow and free 'em up. There's only a nylon bush, circlip and spring in there. Oh, plus 30 years of rust!!!
Osamie, can I use your hotfoot 24 pic for my site?
KT - I'm not sure what you mean? Black bottom? Do you mean Marty's Madison pix?
Cheers!

I wondered what you were on when you wanted to put fit alloy cranks onto the bike Matt.....
I'm on a mixture of Mescalin & shroom's atm , just coming down off the coke/smack speedball's I've been snorting up all day......I can't stand needles <heh>
Thanks for the approx date for the Repco Monoshockers Mr BMX , it seems to fit my memory timeline.
As far as the seat goes , I'd like to get a similar look to a MX dirtbike or whatever those US Kawasaki (?) monoshock bikes had for seats bitd.
We should have a troll thru Nth Parra bikeshop & see if there have any old suitable dragster style seats that can be
modified to make a boxy MX style seat with support at the back & seatpost.
Foam padding & leather to re skin it with are the least of my worries in getting one made up , just need a strong seat base to build from.....
Nothings set in stone on the overall design tho , apart from it having working suspension & no cotter pins in the cranks , boing !

You can't use a dragster seat on a monoshock JB. The swinging rear end won't allow the use of the rear "sissybar". Thats why they have the seat support bolted to the seatpost.

Hello everyone...i'm back home for the weekend again. No change to my mum's health. Dad is on nerve tablets but is taking 3 at a time insted of 1/4 of a tablet. He's also washing them down with 1/3 of a bottle (700ml) rum.I'm so worried, but at 84 years of age, he won't listen to me. I just want to run away and hide...but that won't help anyone ,so i just have to stay and try to help as much as i can. I'll be going back to dad's place in the morning. I'm tired and cranky...and when i came home for the weekend, i found that my wife and kids are ALL sick with some sort of 24hr flu. I have it now too...so i'm hopeing i will be well before morning. The kids have just finished having chicken pox ,only to catch something else.
Thankyou all for your support and prayers.
Luis...thanks for the vid of rock stedy crew. That was cool. Talk to you all soon.
