Osamaie. Excellent suggestion , Matt & I were discussing doing a "dirt" shoot of our bikes at the Homebush track only yesterday , you are welcome to come when we are up to it.

Minor hangups in our camp.
Matt get's his hand sliced open for inspection shortly & will have to be fully recovered b4 he can think about going nuts on a bike.
Sydney weather sux for taking pix atm.
I need ~2 months more pool training to get myself to a 95kg or less riding weight/fitness.
The new digital camera instructions haven't been read & properly field tested yet.

A dirt shoot @ Homebush would be great in 2 or 3 months , hows mid to late October'ish , look on your & anyone else's calender ?

I would rather do it properly & have 4 or 5 of our bikes there with good daylight to use , than have us turn up like the walking dead on a grey day with a trick digital camera & multiple lenses , that I still can't operate in other than point & click mode.

Luis - are the pedals on your Kos DXs or Victors?
www.martin-bike.com
I remember that Torque magazine test - I had that magazine previously before it got "lost".

I do recall another Aussie test of the Champ Pro in another mag but I think it was in one of those fold out newspapers. Then again, my memory could be fading fast.

Does anybody else remember another test of a black Champ Pro or am I the only one???

Mattblack
Hi,
I was thinking if anyone wants to go to Homebush next weekend for a ride I could proberly go ??

My hand is OK but I am having another OP on the 3/8/06 so no riding after that for a while. Could take my GT24 for a spin. If anyone is interested.
bennyg
Sounds good I can make Saturday am or pm or Sunday pm. I'll phone jmc warren & see if he wants to come.
rsrichie
keep me in the loop guys and ill try to get there with the cameras still and video.
Jet Black
Saturday AM , Brunch to Lunch'ish ?
It's my off training day.
Use the time as a recon , practice & horse trading exercise.
Sunday PM will probably be more crowded , weather pending on either day.

Maybe best to grab some food for yourself on the way or maybe brave the nearby Newington shopping center during the Saturday Morning shopping madness.

Homebush Dirt Day Update:

I checked the Homebush track yesterday afternoon around 3pm , it has some nice water features & jumps along the tracks entire length. The few natives I ran into were friendly , well spoken & intelligent. Unfortunately they couldn't ride for $hi7 on their 26inch twin disc brake full suspension MTB things with the 45 gears & all. A couple of parents were there coaching & riding with their kids as best they could on the track.
There wasn't a Fight Club candidate amongst them , tho they did like to play . modify & make a general menace on the PC version of Grand Theft Auto San Andrea's.

Back to the track:
It's still rideable but a lot of the topsoil has washed down the sides of the berms , jumps etc & left water ruts & topsoil piles in various catchment areas of the track.
If the rain keeps up this week (as predicted) a broom , shovel & other track tools may be needed to groom the track as it's a bit rough on the edges now.
Tony Gregg would have lost his car keys if he was doing a pitch & ground report , the area in general was waterlogged to just below ground level but not to the point of being a quagmire.
Public amenities:
Toilets are off site but there is local bushland that can be watered . I didn't see any park bench seats or cement slabs in the vicinity of the track other than at the starting gate slab , so you may want to bring a folding seat or an upholstered milk crate to sit on.
Cooking food onsite is not prohibited , it's just not catered for at all.
There is a huge asphalt "security" carpark next to the track , $3 for the first hour , $1 or so for each hour after that. Hopefully the small wooden gate that allows you to drive in & gain full access to the track with a car will get unlocked if the ground around the track dries up. I can get you in , but yer on yer own if you get yourself bogged.

Thanks for the update JBee..

I just wish they would maintance the track!! before it gets alot worse!

Thanks for the update JB I'll bring my goggles, snorkle, swimmers & bobcat with me. See you on Saturday.

Guys, the frame in this post is the one that was on ebay with the Skyway stickers. Any ideas?
Jet Black
It (the skyway redline mystery frame) was definately made by assoreted young children at school in Taiwan in 1986.
I wouldn't write it off completely , but I wouldn't be in any great hurry to put any parts back onto it other than the headset back onto it either......

Nice wet day for a ride osamaie <heh>
I never liked riding my bike around in the wet bitd
(racing was different) & still don't like to now , I prefer 4 or more wheels under me preferably with an engine in it for transport on cold grey daze like this.
I'd rather get properly soaked walking laps in the pool.
am up to 4 x 600M sets now.

JB
Dirtboy
you've got to be kidding jb!!

There was nothing better than riding home from school in a huge downpour of rain. I remember we used to sprint along, lift the front wheel on top of the gutter and let the rear slide along the face of the gutter spraying water everywhere. Heaps of fun! Then, instead of homework, we'd grab the hack and see who could do the biggest rear end slides out on the slippery street. Only thing better is racing a kart around in the rain on slicks......now that is FUN!!!

now your bringing back some good memories, we use to go down to the storm drains, the big Half pipe like ones we use to lean right forward and do big contiuous fishtails on the slimy surface of the drain it was all we could do stay up right, but when you pulled off a 4 or 5 pedal slide it ws the best.
KOSY-MOTO
Yeah JB.. I don't like cycling out in the rain.. but I got caught-out in the rain out at Cronulla.. heavy down pour all the way homes!.. no happy Jan!! hehehe.. Oh well.. them's the breaks!
prosight

I couldn't help myself.
Is it a Repco ?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=250009131532

Will get to pick it up some time this week.It will be interesting to see one of these in the flesh after so many years.

The rebuild will not be entirely "era correct"

It will have a tasteful mix of old & newschool stuff on it
& be able to run over Korean Cars with ease.

No cotter pins !
I learnt my lesson with them a long time ago , 3 piece cro mo cranks with a euro bb to turn the Red Tuff II's on this bad boy.

JB
OldSkoolRoy
$28 !! That's a beauty. I'd love to see it with the 3 peice cro-mo cranks on. Good score JB.
Jarvi
Bit of a bargain there. Check out this trainwreck of an auction and the way the bidding is unfolding.
COASTY
Nice one JB. Yes it's the same as mine. Repco.
Jarvi, can you say shill?
Jarvi
The high bidder at the moment is probably not a shill because of the previous purchases and the fact the seller describes two Haros (there's another one as well) that are not Group 1s as the titles says. Or are they just doing a bit more to hide it? Ten day auction indicates rookie seller as well. Regardless, the price has gone too high now.
Jarvi
One more thing Glenn. Were you looking for a large rear cog for yours? I have an old Shimano coaster hub with something large on it, just can't remember at the moment and too cold (read too lazy) to go outside at the moment.
KOSY-MOTO
Im looking for a bendix 76 for my motomag so i can finish another project.. DAMN! I never thought a Bendix 76 was sooo hard to find!

YO JB.. all FORD day is on this weekend (Sunday)homie.. you taking the XB out?
AussieRampar
Hey Prosight,

Just listed HT/HG Monaro Glovebox lid and steering wheel on EBAY (as well as a sh!tload of BMX stuff) a heap of stuff sold before I was even finished listing (must have been too cheap - oh well I'm not out to screw anyone)

Look up Ebay ID "macleancars" for the auctions.

-Pete.

Osamie, I might have that Hub stuff for you I'll look tomorrow.
