Hey 57,

is that my bike?? good to see you got photo bucket working. I'll have a benedictine..

welcome to the list, just so you know, dugga is the guy at south eastern with the SE. you know meat pie, V'dad is mark with the crossrider collection especially that really cool tuffy, prosite is the guy you helped carry his bikes at knox.

while we are on plating does anyone know where to get stuff annodized in melb??
Jet Black
If I put Haro levers on any of Matt & my old school riders , he'd end up dead instead of making semi regular visits to the hospital for repairs. I'm sure I'd manage to get myself some road rash or crash into a truck , if I were to put them on our bikes.
We aren't the featherweight teenagers we were in the early 1980's , I'm down to 100kg from taking up training again & looking for 90kg or lower for my 6ft frame by the end of winter , Matt has kept himself in the right height to weight ratio thru semi regular training & exercise over the last 5 years , so we _need_ good brakes on our bikes

That Tioga frame you got there looks like a cousin to our Skyway XL TA , at least the rear end looks similar.
Any chance of you measuring the center to center distance of the headtube & seatpost ?
The XL TA is 19.5 inches & the normal TA is 18.5 inches , it would be interesting to compare the frames geometry, they look like they came from the same factory.
The Skyway is still a very rideable bike to the both of us.

cheers

nice builds Heinz - i seen one of those plates before! lol

i do remember mounting the plastic haro lever bit in the aluminimium mount from a dc or shimano lever at one stage- it did stop the flex a bit from memory.
Mattblack
I love the evil kanevel helmets. I was looking at them after my crash $$$$ but. I bike tops it off!!!

Got a new cast today and a look at the stichers and wire inside my hand. cool a new scar lol
Dirtboy
hey jarvi, saw that bike today and loved it....that's the gear i'm planning on getting to go with my jmc themed azusa.

spent some time today machining an OS suntour clamp to fit the NS azusa.....

now all i need is some chrome bars and chrome 7x 24" rims and it'll be ready to roll sooner than i can ride it!
velocidad
cool, any more pics dirtboy?

Hi Broke.... try collins anodic treatment in blackburn....they have a minimum charge - think it's $40, so get a pile of stuff together before you go. I've had parts done there and the quality is good as long as you do your own preparation first. What colour were your thinking? I may have some stuff that needs doing too.

hey dugga,

if items are oxidised, what do I need to do? do I have to have them pollished first? the other question is can you do head stems? seing they have the neck part that's not aluminium? I am most likley doing gold or blue.

thanks mate

hey christian....I clean off all the old anodizing with caustic soda solution, then scrub it with a dunny brush or nail brush until it's clean and shiny. The anodizers could probably do it for you but it might cost you more. You can't have any ferrous metal (steel, chromium, iron) in the anodizing solution as it draws current away from the part you want anodized and the coating won't take to the aluminium - so you couldn't get an entire stem with a steel post done. The same applies for seat clamps etc. that have a steel nut embedded in them. You also need to be careful when cleaning that you don't use steel scrubbing pads as these can leave microscopic bits of steel in your aluminium that can lead to the same problem.
cheers, hope this helps
velocidad
were you happy with the colors you got from Collins dugga?
dugga
hey mark.... I've only ever got black done so yes I was happy One thing I would do is ask for a colour sample if I was getting anything else done. Especially gold and red - I've seen some real variation in these 2 colours
velocidad
well all i'll say is waza and i have both been "surprised" at his color matching.
dugga
surprised in a good or bad way? I'm thinking of getting a frame done
velocidad
i'll send you a pic via pm.
broke L345
hey what's up V'dad, got your plates yet?? do tell about the annodizing.
velocidad
plates are neat thanks. home delivery too!

Broke - you gonna ride this weekend? Dugga and Jarvi have excuses, its a three hour drive for Crossriderozzy. Supermax???

Jarvi
I'd love to be riding as I like the look of the track. Jumps just before a 180 degree first turn just don't appeal to me and this one looks a bit safer. Famous last words I guess and we'll see how I go when I get back on the bike.

Thinking about seeing if I can drive down for a look. I'd probably only need to change from first to second and at a pinch could just leave it in second the whole way there.

I think Waza said to me once that anno red is the hardest to match but judging by the variations of gold I would say that's pretty tough as well. Will be interested to see results if anyone goes ahead with it.
dugga
looks like a nice track bit like Park Orchards without the lippy jumps.
Completely off track - this is funny...

broke L345
I CAN'T V'dad is it the eastfield clubby already? what track is that a pic of.

I went to my first spin class in ages today, if I'm gonna ride again I at least have to be able to get around the track. after vomiting up a lung and sweating about one litre I went home feeling ill.

I also went back to a bike shop that had a bunch of oakley stickers (about 50 or so) I bought a few last time I was there but unfortunately some how the box of them got filled with water and they were all ruined. Goes to show you, if you see something that's a bargain BUY IT.
velocidad
thats wyndham track C. THIS sunday 18th
Jarvi
Broke, nothing will prepare you for the first race. I thought I was in reasonable condition with 3 weight sessions and a couple of cardio sessions a week for the last few years. Went to get off my bike after the first full speed lap (ie my first race) and my legs were a bit wobbly and I couldn't get the helmet off quick enough to be able to suck more air into my lungs. Obviously I can't tell you what the second race meeting is like because I haven't had it yet due to injury.
broke L345
was that you at the south eastern meet? who was it that did his collar bone on the seccond strait?
Jarvi
No, I did mine the week before at Eastfield. My 'local' track which I thought I was familiar with until I was going around it in reverse and couldn't remember what was on the other side of the jump.
Dirtboy
.....more pics velocidad? sure!

nice track there!! i especially like the 3rd straight

Hey Matt,

No, my King headset there is red. The one here is blue. Bruce's is silver. Is it Christmas already??? LOL

Martin
www.martin-bike.com
Yep, my red King hubs should be on that JMC. Do they run carbon hydraulic disc brakes on cruisers now??? If so, they should go on also . .

just for you MB, especially since these cranks where once yours. Chrome looks at lot better than black tho

MB - no that pic is of the Wyndham warriors bmx club in Hoppers Crossing about 20-30min drive west on Melbourne CBD. The club actually belongs to the Northern Rivers region though, which is also the same region the Border BMX club (Wodonga) belongs too - the way the region is divided up is a mystery to me

ha ha ha - that is classic - lol

It sure is - you are now part of BMX history . . . forever . . . or as long as the internet lasts. That's awesome. I would love it.

Check out the other people. The post BMX career section is interesting. OM's stuff is up to date as of today - even has a link to Vintage.

Thnaks GTHODAD. I'll see how I go in the next day or so and might sing out.

It's amazing where your name can pop up. Only last week I found out one of my websites was quoted in a ruling for a US trademark appeal. All revolved around whether the word "sportsbetting" was the same as "sports betting". Would rather be quoted for something BMX related though. Well done Andy.

Another "special" BMX frame there Matt , how similar does it look to our old Redline MXII frame ?

Follow up to that Amir guy who sold the dud computer...
His old Ebay account the minus 2 rating should actually be lower , it appears he had a friend give him 1 positive feedback before the account was shut.
http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?...5578528&frm=284
The counter for the computer he sold on Ebay is still working & reads over 17 thousand hits.......good things happen to stupid people , it's lucky the UK has strict gun laws this guy would have shot both his feet off , despite his fetish.

Back to dodgy bikes on ebay.....
And if you want to get scammed someone in China has figured a way to sell you a Quadangle using Pay Pal

Hey what's wrong with being listed on a se x site?

On a serious note - there seems to be a bunch of old school BMX scam auctions right now - beware.

Hi, very boring at home. So I put this back together one handed lol
I am still waiting for stickers to finish it off and some other parts to come.
I need to lace up the other rims to go with it (black sunshines + NOS ukai rims) then I will take some nicer shots of it.

+++ AWESOME +++

I've been in contact with Greg Grubbs over recent months about doing a tribute bike to be named "The Grubber".

He's in and is in the process of sending me his Stu bars from his 1982 Proline for the build . . . how cool.

Martin
Jarvi
Damn MB, I haven't even taken my cruiser out of the car yet and you are putting bikes together one handed.

There's a couple of bits on the 'Skyway' that I wouldn't mind but the frame isn't one of them. Gotta love those auctions where they won't quote shipping before auction end. Just screams that if they don't get a decent price they will make up for it with excessive shipping.

That's great news Martin. Glad many of the older riders haven't forgotten their early days.
